India: Fire engulfs mattress factory at Kanpur's Juhi area

Kanpur: A massive fire broke out in a mattress factory in Juhi O Block here on Wednesday, causing a stir in the area.

As many as 24 fire tenders were put into dousing the leaping fire after three hours.

24 fire tenders reached the spot and brought the fire under control after three hours of effort.

Police in the prima face found the factory was running illegally. There is a glass warehouse on the ground floor.

Instead of saving wife, man films her hanging

Kanpur: A woman dies after hanging herself from a fan in the presence of her husband. Raj Kishore Gupta, a resident of Kidwai Nagar, had married his daughter Shobita four years ago with Sanjeev Gupta, a resident of Gulmohar area.

On Tuesday afternoon, Shobhita committed suicide by hanging herself in her house. Husband Sanjeev informed this to the wife's family members.

When Shobhita's family members reached her in-laws' house, they saw that their daughter's body was lying on the bed. It is being told that there was a dispute between husband and wife for a long time.

India: Delhi’s Air Quality Turns “Very Poor”

NEW DELHI, Oct 25 (NNN-PTI) – The quality of air above the Indian capital, Delhi, deteriorated today, to the “Very Poor” category, from the “Poor” category recorded earlier, mainly due to the bursting of firecrackers and fireworks, by people who celebrate the Diwali festival.

According to the data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) today, the overall air quality index (AQI) over Delhi, in terms of PM2.5, stood at 353, which falls in the “Very Poor” category.

India: Car driver's nap causes one death & four hurt in Kanpur Dehat

Kanpur: The moving car collided with a tree on Jhansi Highway in Bhognipur of Dehat district after the driver had a nap.

One youth died while four including the driver of the car were injured. They were taken to CHC Pukhraya.

30-year-old Moin Khan of Barwalia village in Saraini, Rae Bareli, was working in a factory at Surat in Gujarat.

He had left for his home on Monday night with friends. On Tuesday, before reaching Mawar village in Bhognipur area, the car driver Javed had a nap.

Suddenly, the car overturned and hit a tree on the roadside.

India: Kidnapped Dalit girl found dead in MP's Guna district, allegedly raped

Bhind, Oct 23 (PTI) The body of a 16-year-old Dalit girl, who was allegedly kidnapped from her village four days back, was found in a field in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district on Sunday, police said.

According to police, the girl died under mysterious circumstances though the exact cause will be known after postmortem.

The class 11 student was allegedly kidnapped when she was returning from school on October 19. Based on a complaint lodged by her grandfather, police had registered a kidnapping case against an unidentified person.

India: BJP leader Rapolu Anand Bhaskar likely to join TRS

Hyderabad, Oct 23 (PTI) BJP leader in Telangana, Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar on Sunday called on TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and expressed his keenness to join the ruling party.

Bhaskar, who had served as Rajya Sabha member between 2012 and 2018 when he was in Congress, met Rao at Pragati Bhavan, the CM's camp office-cum-official residence here, TRS sources said late on Sunday night.

India: Three held over gangrape of 16-yr-old girl in Tripura, minister's son involved

Agartala, Oct 24 (PTI) Three people were arrested in connection with the alleged gangrape of a 16-year-old girl in Tripura's Unakoti district, the police said.

Claiming that a state minister's son was involved in the incident, the opposition Congress and the CPI(M) demanded the arrest of all the accused, while the BJP dismissed the charge.

India: Delhi's air quality turns very poor in Diwali morning

New Delhi, Oct 24 (PTI) Delhi's air quality turned "very poor" on Monday morning as unfavourable meteorological conditions allowed accumulation of pollutants, and emissions from firecrackers and stubble burning compounded the situation.

On Sunday evening, the city reported a 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) of 259, which was lowest for the day before Diwali in seven years.
