India: Gehlot targets Modi govt over fuel price rise after assembly polls

Jaipur, May 6 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday hit out at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government over rise in fuel prices after the completion of assembly elections in five states.

He said the central government should reduce the tax on petrol and diesel and give relief to the "already troubled" people.

India: Delhi not receiving enough vaccines: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi, May 5(PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Wednesday said the city is not getting enough vaccines, and reiterated if doses are made available in time his government could vaccinate everyone here within three months.

He also said the Delhi government will decide about extending the ongoing lockdown in the city depending on the number of Covid-19 cases.

Right now the citizens of Delhi themselves want this lockdown to continue to stop the spread of this virus, he said after visiting a vaccination centre at Radha Soami Satsang Beas in Rajendra Nagar.

India: Auto-ambulances with oxygen support launched in Delhi

New Delhi, May 5 (PTI) Coronavirus patients with mild symptoms requiring oxygen support can now contact auto-ambulances for reaching a hospital as 10 such modified three-wheelers were launched in Delhi.

Launched by AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in association with TYCIA Foundation on Tuesday, these autorickshaw-turned-ambulances are equipped with an oxygen cylidner and a sanitiser, a statement said.

Their drivers wear PPE kits.

New Delhi, May 4 (PTI) The Delhi High Court Tuesday directed the Centre to show cause as to why contempt not be initiated against it for failing to comply with order on supply of oxygen to Delhi for treating COVID-19 patients.

India: Sports journalist Ruchir Mishra succumbs to COVID-19

New Delhi, May 4 (PTI) Senior Nagpur-based sports journalist Ruchir Mishra died after battling COVID-19 for the last 10 days.

Ruchir was 42 and is survived by his wife and two children.

He has been a cricket correspondent with the Times of India's Nagpur edition for more than a decade and primarily wrote on domestic cricket across the central zone.

He was one of the authorities on domestic and age-group cricket, with a lot of young cricketers from Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh immensely benefitting from his coverage.

India: Some Delhi hospitals still struggle for oxygen supply

New Delhi, May 4 (PTI) Some hospitals in the national capital appealed to authorities on Tuesday to replenish their oxygen stocks, saying their patients' lives were at stake owing to erratic supplies.

For the past several days, hospitals across the national capital and its suburbs have been sending out SOS messages on social media about a shortage of oxygen.

Triton Hospital, where more than 10 babies are in the neonatal intensive care unit, had sent an SOS around 9:30 am.

India: Petrol, diesel price up 2nd day in row

New Delhi, May 5 (PTI) Petrol and diesel prices were raised for the second day in a row on Wednesday as state-owned fuel retailers resumed daily rate revision after a more than two-week long hiatus during assembly elections in states like West Bengal.

Petrol price was increased by 19 paise per litre and diesel by 21 paise a litre, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.

Petrol in the national capital now costs Rs 90.74 a litre and diesel comes for Rs 81.12 per litre.
