Iran received 'gold bullion' from Venezuela in return for oil

28 Sep 2020; MEMO: Iran has obtained gold from Caracas in return for the fuel loads it sent to Venezuela, Iranian chief commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced yesterday.

Yahya Safavi explained that the gold was transferred to Tehran by “airplanes to prevent any accident during transit”.

Jordan Secures 700-Mln-Euro Soft Loan From EU

AMMAN, Sept 28 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan, on Sunday, signed a soft loan agreement with the European Union (EU), under which the kingdom will receive 700 million euros (813.93 million U.S. dollars).

The financing programme by the EU will be disbursed to Jordan in three batches, starting from Oct, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation said, in a statement Sunday.

Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Wissam Rabadi, said, the loan would be provided with a competitive interest rate and a long repayment period of an average of 15 years.

Iraq Slams Attacks By Militant Groups Against Diplomatic Missions

BAGHDAD, Sept 28 (NNN-NINA) – Iraqi top leaders on Sunday confirmed that the recent attacks by unidentified militant groups on diplomatic missions are targeting Iraq’s sovereignty.

A statement by the Iraqi presidency office said, President Barham Salih held a meeting with Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, Parliament Speaker, Mohammed al-Halbousi, and the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zidan, as the top officials discussed the current security and political situation.

Turkey says Armenia must send back foreign 'mercenaries'

ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkey said Monday Armenia must stop its occupation of Azerbaijan’s lands and send back the “mercenaries and terrorists” it brought from abroad for stability in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, where Armenian and Azeri forces have clashed.

“Armenia must immediately halt its attacks, send back the mercenaries and terrorists it brought from abroad and withdraw from the Azerbaijan lands,” said Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar, adding a ceasefire and peace are needed.

Saudi-led coalition says Houthis to release 15 Saudi prisoners

RIYADH, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition said on Sunday that 15 Saudi prisoners are to be released by Houthis as per the Yemeni prisoner exchange agreement, Saudi Arabia's local Al Akhbariya TV reported.

Yemen's warring sides have agreed earlier on Sunday to exchange 1,081 detainees and prisoners during the first stage of talks in Switzerland.

The coalition spokesperson Turki Al Maliki told a press conference in Riyadh that the Yemeni government will release 681 prisoners and the Houthi militia will release 400 others.

G20 Leaders' Summit to be held virtually on Nov. 21 to 22 -- Saudi G20 presidency statement

RIYADH, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The 2020 G20 Leaders' Summit will be held virtually on Nov. 21 to 22, chaired by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia's G20 presidency said in a statement early Monday.

The statement said the Saudi G20 presidency will "build on the success of the extraordinary virtual G20 Leaders' Summit held in March and on the outcomes of over 100 virtual working groups and ministerial meetings."

Explosion Kills Seven In Syria’s Hasakah

DAMASCUS, Sept 27 (NNN-SANA) – Seven civilians were killed yesterday, by a car bomb explosion in Syria’s north-eastern province of Hasakah.

The car bomb exploded at the southern entrance of the city of Ras al-Ayn, in the countryside of Hasakah.

Two children were among those killed.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, seven civilians were killed and 10 others wounded by the explosion.

It said, the blast rocked the industrial zone south of Ras al-Ayn.

Lebanese politician Bassil infected with coronavirus, his party says

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Leading Lebanese politician Gebran Bassil has been infected with a “mild” case of the coronavirus, his party said, as cases surge throughout the country.

Bassil, the son-in-law of Lebanese President Michel Aoun and a former foreign minister who heads the country’s largest Christian political bloc, discovered he was infected on Saturday after several tests, a statement released by his party said.
