Israel arms company to manufacture weapons in Morocco

13 June 2023; MEMO: Israeli defence technology company, Elbit Systems, intends to open two sites in Morocco, according to Shai Cohen, head of the liaison office in Morocco.

Cohen told reporters on Friday that the two branches will produce "defence systems", pointing out that "one of the branches will be opened in the city of Casablanca".

The announcement comes as Moroccan-Israeli relations are witnessing rapid developments in various fields, especially in the field of defence and security.

Turkiye, Azerbaijan presidents meet in Baku for talks

Erdogan arrived in Azerbaijan yesterday after his visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as part of his first foreign tour following his 28 May reelection.

Israel: Chief of staff of National Security Minister urinates on site where 5 Palestinians were killed

13 June 2023; MEMO: An extreme far-right Israeli official has been caught on camera urinating in public on the site where five Palestinian citizens of the occupation state were killed in a recent organised crime attack. Chanamel Dorfman, the chief of staff of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, has been criticised for his "disgusting behaviour".

Ethiopia government criticizes WFP, USAID food aid suspension

ADDIS ABABA, June 12 (NNN-AFRICANEWS) — Ethiopia has criticised the suspension of food aid to the country by the United States and the UN World Food Program (WFP). 

Government spokesman Legesse Tulu, called the decision “political” saying the suspension “punishes millions of people”. More than 15% of the country’s population depends on food aid.

On Thursday, USAID, the US government’s international aid agency, announced the suspension of its food aid, denouncing a “widespread and coordinated detour operation”.

Türkiye Killed Seven YPG Members In Retaliation For Rocket Attack: Defence Ministry

ANKARA, Jun 12 (NNN-XINHUA) – At least seven members of the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) were killed by Turkish forces, in retaliation for YPG’s harassing fires, Türkiye’s defence ministry said, yesterday.

Among those killed were two senior YPG members, the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, the YPG launched mortar/rocket harassing fires on Turkish security posts, in the Cibrin Base area in northern Syria, and the Oncupinar area in southern Türkiye, said the statement.

Lebanon calls on UN to pressure Israel to de-escalate border tension

BEIRUT, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati Monday called on the UN peacekeeping forces to pressure Israel to stop violations of Lebanon's sovereignty and the bulldozing works within Lebanese territories.

Mikati made the appeal during a meeting with Aroldo Lazaro Saenz, chief of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), at the Grand Serail in Beirut, according to a statement by Lebanon's Council of Ministers.

Ethiopia: IGAD chief urges conflicting parties in Sudan to cease all hostilities

ADDIS ABABA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Workneh Gebeyehu on Monday called on conflicting parties in Sudan to cease hostilities and resolve the situation through dialogue.

Gebeyehu made the urgent call in his address at the 14th Ordinary Assembly of the IGAD Heads of State and Government, which was held in the Red Sea nation of Djibouti on Monday.
