BRASILIA, Oct12 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called on the international community to intervene to stop the situation of children who are in the line of fire in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
‘It is necessary that the Hamas movement releases Israeli children who have been kidnapped from their families. Also Israel should cease bombing so that Palestinian children and their mothers leave the Gaza Strip through the border with Egypt,’ Lula wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
He considered it ‘necessary there be a minimum of humanity in the madness of war´.
An international humanitarian intervention is urgent. A cease-fire in defense of Israeli and Palestinian children is urgent’, he remarked.
He pointed out that Brazil, as a temporary member of the United Nations Security Council, will do everything possible to achieve an immediate and definitive cessation of the conflict.
The new escalation of violence began last Saturday with an unprecedented offensive in the last 50 years launched by the military wing of Hamas against cities located mostly in areas occupied by Tel Aviv, in the West Bank.
