CARACAS, Oct 22 (NNN-ABN) – Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister, Yvan Gil, thanked international support for the progress made in Venezuela’s national conciliation talks, and the temporary suspension of U.S. sanctions against the country.
“We welcome the message of support that comes to us from … Russia, in reference to the resumption of dialogue and the right of our country to live free of foreign interference, blackmail and unilateral sanctions,” Gil wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Responding to Mexico’s congratulation on the progress, Gil highlighted in another post, the “important role of Mexico as guarantor of the dialogue process” between the Venezuelan government and the opposition.
Thanking Argentina for its message of support, Gil said, the Venezuelan government is “firmly committed to maintaining political stability.”
Gil also expressed gratitude to Bolivia and Cuba.
The Venezuelan official had already written posts of thanks on Thursday to Brazil and Colombia, regarding their separate messages of support.
Last Tuesday, the Venezuelan government and a sector of the opposition signed two partial agreements in Barbados, to guarantee the well-being of the people, elections and political coexistence.
Subsequently, the U.S. government officially announced it would suspend several unilateral sanctions against Venezuela, including sanctions impacting companies in oil, gas and gold mining industries.
