KDA may lower its flats' sale rate

KANPUR: Is there a happier position for the Kanpur Development Authority in regard to the sale of its flats? Of course, it is wholly not. Even the state government has learnt of its slow sale and come up with its offer in the revision of the rate.

Despite holding camps at various government offices and organising fairs on selected spots and also indulging in other promotional steps its flats constructed under various housing schemes were not selling like hot cakes.

What concerns the KDA authorities the most was that not even five thousand flats were sold so far. It will be worth mentioning here that the KDA had begun its much-publicised scheme of booking affordable housing flats in the year 2014.

In such a trying time the state government in its recent meeting has agreed to rework on the rate of the flats. The authority officers were supposed to have been considering over the process of revising the rate.

As it was clear that the Kanpur Development Authority had commenced the flat booking procedures with the start of the group housing schemes, the sale did not gain momentum with that expected speed. As many as 7360 flats under Sulabh Awas Scheme in Shatabdi Nagar were constructed.

It was followed by another dream housing project of 1200 Two BHK flats in the same locality. Besides, two & three BHK flats were brought under Samajwadi Awas in Jawahar Puram, KDA Greens at Mainavti Marg, and Signature Greens at Vikas Nagar.
