Pakistan calls for peacekeeping force in Palestine

 Pakistan protest against Israel

28 May 2021; MEMO: An international peacekeeping force must be deployed in the occupied Palestinian territories to protect civilians from repeated Israeli aggression, Pakistan's Minister of Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain demanded yesterday.

"If international peacekeeping troops can be deployed in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Far East, then why can Palestine be an exception?" Hussain asked journalists. The Pakistani official urged the UN Security council "to fulfil its primary responsibility" to ensure peace.

More than 250 Palestinians were killed in the recent aerial bombardment of Gaza by Israel, hundreds were injured, and over 50,000 others were displaced by the destruction of their homes.

"The time has come to rise up to create a collective resistance against the torture, trauma and tyranny inflicted upon Palestinians," added the minister. "I'm sure that global public opinion is turning against Israel as its atrocities cannot go unabated, especially in today's globalised world."
