India: Man found dead on railway track in Kanpur

Kanpur: The dead body of a man was found in a forest area of a railway ground here. The incident took place at Nirala Nagar Railway Ground of the Govind Nagar area.

On getting the information from locals, a team of police reached the spot.

The upper part of the carcass was eaten by animals and the police found a mobile phone in the pocket of the deceased.

The man was identified as Kallu, 32, and was a resident of Jajmau.

He used to work as a labourer here and was living with his wife Soni, two daughters and a son.

His wife told the police that on Tuesday morning, Kallu had left for work and had informed her that he would return home late.

But when he didn't return till 9 pm, she called him on his phone but it was not picked up.

When she again called him in the morning, his phone was picked up by a policeman and he informed her about the incident.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

ACP Govind Nagar, Vikash Kumar Pandey told, "A forensic team has been called for an investigation. A blade with bloodstains, two mobile phones, some money, slippers etc, have been recovered from the spot. There are some cuts in his hand too".

The wife of the deceased has given information about his drinking habit.

It will be clear after the post-mortem whether the man came here to commit suicide or that someone killed him.
