India: On Taraweeh completion, Imam says, "Ibadat only option to rid of sins."

Kanpur: It was on Sunday night the extra prayer of Taraweeh concludes at a mosque in Jajmau.

It took more than two weeks to complete as the prayer began on the night of moon sight and was completed on April 17.

The devout remained present in sufficient number every day. The upper-storey mosque did not remain devoid of the devout any single day.

Though the mosque is not very large, the elders and the youngsters attended the prayer. It has rightly been said that the month of Ramadan attracts devout in a large number.

The Prophet PBUH) stated, “Whoever observes night prayer in Ramadan as an expression of his faith and to seek reward from Allah, his previous sins will be blotted out.” This has been quoted from the authentic book Muslim.

Taraweeh is a special Salah (prayer) consisting of 20 rakaat which are offered soon after the obligatory 'Isha' prayer.

At the end of his oration, the Imam dwelt at length on the value of Ibadat for it rids the believers of sins and evils. It is the straight way to seek Allah's benediction, he maintained.

He also said that the devout should make the spirit of Ibadat on with all the days. It should not confine to this holy month.
