India: 28 hectares of govt land vacated within 20 days in Kanpur

Kanpur: In the past 20 days, as many as 28 hectares of government land worth Rs 320 crore has been cleared.The land was vacated between April 1 and 20.

11.5346 hectare land worth Rs 312.50 crore of KDA, 14.407 hectares of land worth Rs 3.06 crores of Revenue Department, 0.5400 hectare land of Bilhaur tehsil worth Rs 2.97 crore, 1.666 hectares of land worth Rs 1.56 crore in Ghatampur.

The largest share is of KDA. After this, encroachments have been removed from government land in Revenue Department, Ghatampur and Bilhaur Tehsils.

Government lands are being cleared by running a continuous campaign. Except for the cases pending in the court, all other government lands will be vacated soon, said Dayanand Prasad, ADM (F&R).

However, 19 hectares of land are reportedly yet to be cleared.

With the crackdown on land mafia from the year 2017, the campaign to vacate government lands has also intensified. In Kanpur district.

More than 48 hectares of land was left in possession of KDA, Revenue Department along with Ghatampur and Bilhaur tehsil and Nagar Panchayat Bithoor.

In the second innings of the Yogi government, 28 hectares of land has been cleared in just 20 days.

According to the news, the police deptt has identified 19 land mafia, out of which action was taken on 10 gangsters, 14 under the Goonda Act, 11 on the history sheeter and seven under the Mini Goonda Act. Their assets worth Rs 7.01 crore were also confiscated.
