MOSCOW, March 27. /TASS/. The annual Russian-Chinese Maritime Cooperation-2019 naval exercise will be held in late April and early May, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The Russian Navy and the People's Liberation Army Navy will hold a bilateral naval exercise, Maritime Cooperation, in late April - early May 2019. A Chinese Navy delegation, led by Rear Admiral Yan Zhengming, arrived to St. Petersburg yesterday to participate in a planning conference, which a delegation of officers of the Main Command of the Russian Navy and the Pacific Fleet, led by Rear Admiral Alexander Shuvanov," the statement says.
Russian and Chinese sailors will train elements of joint maneuvering and communication, perform missile launches and artillery fire at naval and aerial targets and practice scenarios of search and rescue. Surface ships, Chinese naval aviation and diesel-electric submarines from both states will take part. The Russian task force will be led by the Pacific Fleet’s flagship, the Varyag missile cruiser.
