Cuba: Successful visit, with high understanding and commitment, Diaz-Canel describes visit to China

BEIJING, Nov 26 (NNN-ACN) — Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel said Friday on his last day in China that the visit was a successful one, with a high level of understanding and commitment from Chinese leaders.

Before concluding the official visit, the president met in Beijing with Asian authorities of the Assembly and the Government, and paid tribute to the heroes of the Chinese people. China was the last stop of an international tour of countries in Asia, Africa and Europe.

The Cuban president and the high-level delegation accompanying him began the international tour last Nov 16 in Algeria, after which they visited Russia and Turkey.

In HAVANA, the Presidency published on Twitter that during the meeting between the president and Li Zhanshu, president of the National People’s Congress of China, both highlighted the excellent parliamentary relations that exist between their countries.

In his meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Diaz-Canel reaffirmed the importance that Cuba gives to the participation of the Chinese business sector in the process of updating the Cuban economic and social model, and thanked China for its solidarity with the Caribbean people.

During the exchange, they discussed the possibilities of further strengthening economic relations and increasing the participation of Chinese businessmen in Cuba.

Cuban and his delegation arrived at Tiananmen Square to lay a wreath at the Monument to the People’s Heroes, in tribute to the martyrs of that sister nation.

Following the sanitary protocol of the Chinese authorities, Diaz-Canel held a virtual meeting with the group of the Cuban state mission, where they talked about the homeland and evoked the Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro on the 6th anniversary of his death.

Friday, presidents of Cuba and China held official talks where both expressed their intention to continue deepening political trust and broadening cooperation, and representatives of both countries signed 12 cooperation agreements.

Representatives of Cuba and China signed on Friday 12 agreements on cooperation, shortly before concluding the official visit of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel to that Asian country.

As reported by the Presidency on Twitter, the signatures were made after the conclusion of the official talks between the Caribbean head of state and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, at the Great Palace of the People.

We renewed and projected high-priority agreements that together with the signed contracts will allow us to continue strengthening the political orientation of our relations and expanding economic, commercial and financial ties in areas of mutual interest, said the president in the same social network.

Among the agreements are the plan for Political Consultations between the Cuban and Chinese ministries of foreign affairs, and the agreement on the exchange and cooperation between the communist parties of both nations.

The list also includes MoUs between the ministry of foreign trade and investment with several Chinese organizations, such as the national development and reform commission, the ministry of commerce and the international development cooperation agency.

Other projects signed were the minutes of delivery and receipt of donations between both governments, including cash, medicines, medical supplies, food, a project of raw materials for school uniforms and work clothes, and the Cloud telepresence system project of the Group of Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba.

Official confirmation was also made of the execution of different initiatives for the supply of kitchen utensils for high-impact programs for the Cuban population, the national identity system for natural persons, the supervision of wireless networks, and the Forensic Data Laboratory.
