Kolkata, April 26; GANASHAKTI: CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury today has hinted that all the opposition parties in a combined manner can take legal recourse as they all are peeved as due to Central Election Commissions blatant overlooking of continuous violation of Model Code of Conduct by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his election campaign .
He also said that the opposition parties will knock the door of the Court (read Supreme Court ), before the fourth phase of elections in the country , ie on 29 th April. He elaborated that the communal polarization effort being done by Modi , as in the next phases elections will be held in the 240 seats , out of which last time BJP had won in 160 seats.
However this is unprecedented, the way Supreme Court was about to summon Chief Election Commissioner , for trying to evade Supreme Courts order. He said that the way , PM is trying to invoke the ‘Army’ be it talking about threats of ‘Katilyoun ki Raat ‘ in Gujarat ‘ or giving nuclear threat to Pakistan in Barmer of Rajasthan, is contrary to all norms. He is rampantly disobeying EC’s dictate in this regard , and the EC is playing a dormant role in response to PM ‘s constant violation ,has necessitated the need for taking legal recourse . He also said that Election Commission is a pillar of democracy and such questions are absolutely detrimental to Indian democracy.
Furnishing details he said that in the last 5 years under PM Modi’s rule , the number of terrorist attacks have more than trebled climbing from 109 to 625.and the number of jawans death has climbed from 139 to 483, and the number of civilian deaths have increased from 12 to 219. In the same time period that after 2014, the number of cease fire violations has increased from 563 to 5596.
He also commented that to the Pakistani establishment, Indian PM Modi is dearer , and cited Pakistani Premier Imran Khans’ recent comment that Pakistan wants BJP and Modi to win in the loksabha elections. He also said that even in 2003 , Jamaite islami chief of Pakistan had said that he want Vajpayee to win in the elections. It is because , he said that the communal element of one country feeds on the communal atmosphere of the other country.
Adding that the same thing is happening in West Bengal , where by the TMC is feeding on the communal atmosphere created by BJP ,he said that BJP and TMC has embarked on a game of competitive communalism with each other.
Answering to media questions Sitaram Yechury said that Congress should know that ‘No Alternative Government in the country has been formed without the Left support’.
He also said that in the country now, it is ‘Modi vs People’ , or ‘ Modi Vs You’ as on one side of the divide is Modi with his communal propaganda and on the other side is the common people, who have now to decide how their children will be in the coming years . He also commented that what is uncommon in the pleasantry exchange between Mamata and Modi is that what was the need to maintain such secrecy? Until Modi disclosed it , no body knew about it.
Regarding the Bengal situation he told that the main concern of the CPI(M) is whether the people of the state can vote in this election , as in the earlier phases rampant report of vote rigging , unavailability of central forces , though on paper Central forces has been allocated ,and the main concern is that whether this election will be like the erstwhile Panchayet elections in the state , where voting rights were snatched out, by the ruling party.
He also spelled the electoral stand of the CPI(M) in the present Loksabha election , i.e to Defeat BJP and its Allies , and to take steps for the constitution of an Secular alternative Government , and to ensure that the Government takes pro people measures, in the aid of the common people.
