US president, North Korean leader wrap up expanded negotiations at Hanoi

HANOI, February 28. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un have ended expanded negotiations in Hanoi on Thursday, a TASS correspondent reported from the scene.

The main negotiation part of the summit lasted more than two hours. Now the two state leaders will have a working dinner. It is being held at Le Club Bar restaurant.

Apart from the two state leaders, five people from each side are also taking part in the working dinner.

Iranian president officially refuses FM's resignation

TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday officially refused to accept the resignation of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, official IRNA news agency reported.

"Your appeal for resignation is against the country's expediency," Rouhani said in response to an earlier resignation letter by Zarif.

"Therefore, I do not accept it," he added.

Man set to be executed for killing estranged wife’s family

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — A Texas death row inmate once described by a prosecutor as having “a heart full of scorpions” was set to be executed Thursday for killing his estranged wife’s parents and her brother, who was a police officer.

Billie Wayne Coble was condemned for the August 1989 shooting deaths of his in-laws, Robert and Zelda Vicha, and their son, Bobby Vicha, at their homes in Axtell, northeast of Waco.

Coble, 70, would be the third inmate put to death this year in the U.S. and the second in Texas, which is the nation’s busiest capital punishment state.

Pakistan PM invites India for dialogue amid escalating tensions

ISLAMABAD/NEW DELHI, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday invited India for dialogue to counter terrorism and reduce tensions between the two neighbors.

The Pakistani prime minister was addressing the nation amid tensions between the two countries following a recent suicide attack on the Indian police in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

US and North Korea will sign 'Hanoi declaration'

HANOI, February 28. /TASS/. The United States and North Korea have coordinated at least three points in the joint document that US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will sign at the end of Hanoi summit, a diplomatic source told TASS on Thursday.

The document will be called the "Hanoi declaration," the source said adding that it will define the term "denuclearization," determine future steps by both sides, and elaborate on tasks and issues that the US and North Korea will continue discussing the the future.

Russia, Syria demand U.S. withdrawal from Syria

DAMASCUS, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- A Syrian-Russian joint coordination committee demanded in a statement Wednesday the U.S. forces to withdraw from Syria, according to Syrian state news agency SANA.

The Joint Coordination Committee for Return of Syrian Refugees said in a statement that the U.S. must withdraw its forces, which are illegally present on Syrian soil.

Kremlin says cyber attacks against Russia perpetually initiated from US territory

MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Wednesday that Russian structures including the Russian presidential website have regularly experienced cyber attacks from the US and Europe, when commenting on a report by The Washington Post claiming that the US military had carried out a cyber attack against Russia’s Internet Research Agency in the run-up to the 2018 midterm elections.

Israel strikes on Gaza military posts

GAZA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Israeli war jets attacked on Wednesday night, with air-to-ground missiles, military posts belong to the Islamic Hamas movement's military wing east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, security sources said.

The sources said that several missiles were fired at Hamas military facility, adding that several explosions were heard in the area and the facility was destroyed, but no injuries were reported.

Russia, Israel to set up working group on removing foreign forces from Syria

At least 20 killed in fatal Cairo train fire, transport minister resigns

CAIRO, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- At least 20 people were killed and dozens injured when a train crashed and caught fire at Cairo's main train station on Wednesday, resulting in the resignation of Transport Minister Hesham Arafat.

The train engine slammed into the buffers at the end of the track at high speed at the main railway station in downtown Cairo on Wednesday before a fire broke out.

A security source told state-run Ahram news website that the crash caused explosion of the fuel tank which triggered the fire.
