RUSSIA: Four people caught in glacier collapse in Kamchatka

MOSCOW, January 7. /TASS/: Four people were caught in an ice glacier collapse in Kamchatka, one was killed, three were wounded, press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry told TASS.

"According to operational data, four people from the tourist group were under the collapse: three of them were injured, one was killed," the press service said. The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that, according to preliminary information, other tourist groups who were at the waterfall left the scene in full.

Russia’s coronavirus spread rate plunges to lowest level since this spring

MOSCOW, January 6. /TASS/: Russia’s coronavirus spread rate sank on Wednesday to below 0.9 for the second time since the start of the pandemic, according to TASS estimates based on the anti-coronavirus crisis center’s data.

The figure declined from 0.91 to 0.89. Last time this level was recorded on May 19 and did not go down further since then.

In Moscow the coronavirus spread rate stood at 0.76 for the second day, the lowest level since June 20.

Kremlin: Putin will not ‘shoot himself in the foot’ to take revenge on Ukraine: Russia

MOSCOW, January 5. /TASS/: Russian President Vladimir Putin will not shoot himself in the foot for the sake of taking revenge on those partners who have crossed the "red line," his reaction will be thoughtful, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with journalist Vladimir Solovyov uploaded on his YouTube channel on Tuesday.

"Shooting oneself in the foot in order to take revenge on someone - that’s not his style. His reaction is thoughtful and well-reasoned," he said commenting on Moscow’s interaction with Kiev.

Russian government approves rules of investment agreements on Priobskoe field

MOSCOW, January 5. /TASS/: The Russian government approved rules of making, cancelling and monitoring performance of investment agreements for the Priobskoe field developed by the Russian oil producer Rosneft. The relevant decree was posted on the official website of regulatory and legal information.

The decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin was signed on December 31 of the last year and became effective from January 1, 2021. Rules stipulate the procedure and the sequence of parties’ actions and reporting forms when entering into investment agreements.

Russia reports 518 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours

MOSCOW, January 5. /TASS/: Russia’s coronavirus fatalities grew by 518 in the past 24 hours compared to 482 deaths reported the day before, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Tuesday.

The conditional mortality rate stands at 1.81%, as follows from the data provided by the crisis center.

Another 75 fatalities were recorded in Moscow, 73 in St. Petersburg, 22 in the Moscow Region, 21 in the Rostov Region, while the Nizhny Novgorod and Sverdlovsk regions reported 18 deaths each.

Russian peacekeepers defuse some 19,000 explosives in Nagorno-Karabakh

MOSCOW, January 4. /TASS/: Russian engineer units have conducted a mine clearing effort on more than 414 ha of land since the start of their work in Nagorno-Karabakh, defusing nearly 19,000 explosives, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

"During the operation engineer units of Russia’s peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh cleared mines on more than 414 ha of land, nearly 160 km of roads, 617 buildings, including 22 socially significant facilities. They have discovered and defused nearly 19,000 explosives," the ministry said in a statement.
