Russia: Kremlin comments on Putin’s recent remarks about Boris Nemtsov murder

MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has commented on the question to clarify what Russian President Vladimir Putin meant when he recently said that it is "generally clear" who ordered the assassination of Russian politician Boris Nemtsov in 2015, suggesting that this question can be asked directly at Putin’s upcoming annual press conference on December 17.

"No, I cannot [clarify that]," he told reporters Monday. "The large press conference is coming, you are free to ask that."

Over 27,000 COVID-19 infections detected in Russia in 24 hours

MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/: The number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in Russia over the past 24 hours has increased by 27,328, bringing the total to 2,681,256, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told journalists on Monday.

According to the crisis center, the relative daily growth decreased to 1%.

MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. Moscow reserves the right to take tit-for-tat measures in response to the UK’s new anti-Russian sanctions, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Saturday.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry was bewildered over the UK government’s decision announced on December 10 on imposing national sanctions against three Russian citizens and a unit of the National Guard for allegedly abusing human rights in the Chechen Republic, the diplomat said.

Russia reports record-high 613 daily coronavirus deaths

MOSCOW, December 11. /TASS/: The number of coronavirus-related fatalities in Russia went up by 613 in the past 24 hours, compared to 562 on the previous day, bringing the total to 45,893, the national anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters Thursday.

The provisional death rate has risen to 1.77%

In the past 24 hours, 69 patients died in St. Petersburg, followed by the Moscow Region (29), the Voronezh Region (28), the Rostov Region (26) and the Chelyabinsk Region (19).

 

Terrorist blows himself up during apprehension in Russia’s Karachay-Cherkessia

Human rights commissioner hopes new US president will pardon Russian prisoners

MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/: Russia's Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova expressed hope that the new US president will exercise his right to pardon Russian citizens jailed in the United States.

"I hope, regardless of who the new US president will be, that he will use his right to pardon Russian citizens who are behind bars in the US," Moskalkova said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Thursday.
