HANOI, Nov 1 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam saw nearly 2.4 million international arrivals in the first 10 months of this year, increasing nearly 19 times from the same period last year, but still much lower than the pre-pandemic period in 2019, the General Statistics Office, said today.

From Jan to Oct, visitors entering the country by air amounted to approximately 2.1 million, accounting for 88.8 percent of the total.

Over the 10 months, nearly 1.7 million foreign visitors to Vietnam were from Asia, increasing over 15 times, compared to the same period last year.

HANOI, Oct 27 (NNN-VNA) – The Vietnam Motor Show 2022, kicked off yesterday, in the country’s southern Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 120 models displayed.

The event, held after a two-year hiatus, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attracted participation of 14 brands, namely Audi, Brabus, Honda, Jeep, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Morgan, MG, RAM, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.

It also marks the first-time participation of vehicles from well-known brands, including trucks, large capacity vehicles and electric vehicles.

HANOI, Oct 24 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam’s import and export activities will face many challenges in the last months of this year and into the next, according to the Import-Export Department, under the country’s Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The difficulties are posed by factors, including the risk of recession in major economies, triggered by goods supply disruptions, and high input material prices, local newspaper, Vietnam News, cited Nguyen Cam Trang, deputy director of the department, as reporting.

HANOI, Oct 22 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnamese President, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, agreed yesterday, to continue to strengthen multilateralism, with the United Nations playing a central role, amid unpredictable developments in the world, and regional political and security issues.

The two sides held talks in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, as part of activities during Guterres’ two-day official visit to Vietnam, according to a statement released on the Vietnamese government portal, yesterday.

HANOI, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Ministry of Health said on Monday that a 35-year-old woman had been diagnosed with monkeypox, who became the first case of monkeypox detected in the Southeast Asian country.

A resident in southern Ho Chi Minh City, the patient fell ill on Sept. 18 while traveling in Dubai with symptoms of fever, fatigue, chills, muscle aches, headache and a cough, as well as red and itchy bumps on her arms, body and face, before returning to Vietnam on Sept. 22, Vietnam News Agency cited the ministry as reporting.

HANOI, Aug 13 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam will host the 2022 Mekong Tourism Forum, from Oct 9 to Oct 14, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, under the country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said yesterday.

Themed “Rebuild Tourism, Rebound with Resilience,” the forum will take place in the central Quang Nam province, and will be the first of its kind and “the first in-person meeting of the six Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) destinations,” since 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

HANOI, July 21 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Department of State's recent report on human trafficking contains incorrect information about Vietnam, the spokesperson of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday.

In a statement in response to the 2022 Trafficking in Persons Report released Tuesday, Le Thi Thu Hang expressed hope that the United States will closely work with Vietnam to make a more accurate assessment of the situation in Vietnam as well as the country's efforts to deal with the issue.

HANOI, July 6 (Reuters) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday called on all parties in the world to make efforts to protect international laws as "the world is evolving in a complicated manner."

Lavrov was speaking though a translator at a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi.

HANOI, Jun 14 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam’s southern region, reported more than 39,300 dengue fever infections, with 36 deaths from the disease so far this year.

Among the infections, nearly 1,200 were severe cases, according to Doctor Luong Chan Quang from Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute.

The number of infections doubled that of the same period last year, he said, at a meeting on dengue prevention and control, held yesterday.

Half of the infections and 45 percent of the total deaths have been recorded in the past four weeks.

HANOI, May 15 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam will ban the use of all plastic bags from 2030, including those in wet markets, it was reported today.

The country has also set a target of using 100 percent environmentally-friendly bags, at commercial centres and supermarkets by 2025, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, was quoted as reporting.
