For its part, Moscow should likewise make efforts to become a reliable partner again, leader of the liberal German Free Democratic Party (FDP) Christian Lindner told the Passauer Neue Presse daily.

12 Aug 2018; DG: Germany has seen a marked reduction in the number of attacks on refugees and migrant shelters in 2018. Lawmakers have welcomed the lower numbers, but warn of an ongoing "intolerable state of everyday racism."

Germany saw just over 700 anti-migrant attacks in the first half of 2018, according to the latest Interior Ministry figures.

13 Aug 2018; AFP: Germany's economy minister on Sunday lashed out at US President Donald Trump, slamming his global trade rows and efforts to "dictate" Europe's dealings with Iran through renewed US sanctions.

In an interview with German weekly Bild am Sonntag, Peter Altmaier warned of the damaging consequences of a full-blown US-China trade war, and expressed concern about Trump's decision to slap hefty metals tariffs on Turkey in an escalating diplomatic row.

BERLIN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Germany's adolescent population aged between 14 and 17 stood around 3.2 million at the end of 2016, a drop of nearly 470,000 within 10 years, data by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) show.

The proportion of the 14-17 year olds in the total population decreased from 4.4 percent in 2006 to 3.8 percent by the end of 2016, according to the Destatis.

Within 10 years, the share of young people without a secondary school graduation certificate had declined significantly from 8 percent in 2006 to 6 percent in 2016, the Destatis said.

Berlin, Aug 8; AFP: German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas warned today that US President Donald Trump's decision to reimpose sanctions on Iran could further destabilise the Middle East and boost radical forces in the region.

Trump brought back the punishing sanctions after unilaterally pulling out of a landmark 2015 deal between Tehran and Western powers to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions.

"We still think that it is a mistake to give up on the nuclear accord with Iran," Maas said in an interview with the daily Passauer Neue Presse.

BERLIN 7 Aug 2018; A German mother, identified as Berrin T, and her partner have been convicted for raping her son and selling him to paedophiles.

The Freiburg state court convicted the couple for a total of 40 counts of serious sexual abuse of children.  Couple were also convicted for of rape and human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

6 Aug 2018; DW: Swastikas have been daubed at the spot where a Syrian child was killed in an accident in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Local politicians condemned the graffiti, which is being investigated by police.

The small town of Schönberg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has become the scene of an ugly neo-Nazi hate campaign after a young boy was hit by a tractor on June 20. Two men have since been identified in connection with the crime.

2 Aug 2018; DW; An AfD state youth leader called the German officer who attempted to assassinate Hitler a "coward" and "traitor." The Facebook post has landed him in hot water within the right-wing populist party.

The right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) on Thursday tried to distance itself from comments made by a regional party youth leader who labeled a German officer who tried to kill Adolf Hitler a "traitor."
