Bus Collision Killed 18, Injured 15 In Central Iraq

BAGHDAD, Sept 3 (NNN-NINA) – A total of 18 people were killed and 15 others wounded, after two buses carrying Shiite pilgrims collided on Friday night, in Iraq’s central province of Salahudin, local sources said yesterday.

One of the buses, heading to the Shiite holy city of Samarra, about 120 km north of Iraq’s capital Baghdad, collided with the other bus returning from the city, a traffic police, who asked to remain anonymous said, adding, the accident took place on the main road near the town of Balad, some 80 km north of Baghdad.

Iraq to commence cross-border railway project with Iran

Iraq: Water reserves at 'lowest' in history says ministry

08 August 2023; MEMO: Iraq's water reserves are at the "lowest" in the country's history, a spokesman for the Water Resources Ministry was quoted as saying yesterday, having reduced to almost half of last year's amount.

"Current water reserves in Iraq are the lowest in the history of the country, and are 50 per cent of last year," spokesman Khaled Shamal told Rudaw.

Iraq renews deal to supply Lebanon up to 2m tons of crude for a year

21 July 2023; MEMO: Iraq renewed its agreement to provide Lebanon with up to 2 million tons of crude oil for a year, Lebanese Energy Ministry said in a statement on Friday, Reuters reports.

The two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Iraq providing Lebanon with fuel oil and crude oil, the Iraqi state news agency, INA, also reported on Friday, without elaborating.
