Israel plans to become world leader in artificial intelligence

JERUSALEM, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Israel is in the process of making a national plan to become one of the most advanced countries in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), experts said.

"We are now making a national plan that will be submitted to the government to make Israel, within five years, one of the top five leading countries in the world in artificial intelligence technology," Isaac Ben-Israel, head of an Israeli team on formulating a national AI plan, told Xinhua.

India: Prithvi-2 missile successfully testfired at night

Balasore (Odisha) November 20 (PTI) India successfully testfired on Wednesday the indigenously developed nuclear capable Prithvi-2 missile at night as part of a user trial by the Army from a test range off Odisha coast, an official said.

Two Prithvi-2 missiles were test fired consecutively and both tests met all parameters, the official said from the Interim Test Range at Chandipur.

Pakistan test launches of nuclear-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile successfully

Islamabad, Nov 18 (PTI) Pakistan on Monday successfully test-fired a nuclear-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile which can strike targets up to 650 kilometres, bringing many Indian cities under its range.

The test-firing of the Shaheen-I missile by the Pakistani military took place amidst Indo-Pak tensions over New Delhi revoking Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

China-Laos Railway Tunnel Completed, 43 Days Ahead Of Schedule

VIENTIANE, Nov 18 (NNN-KPL) – A Key tunnel of China-Laos railway, has been drilled through by China Railway No. 8 Engineering Group (CREC-8), near the ancient Lao capital of Luang Prabang, some 220 km north of the capital, Vientiane.

With the roar of the excavator, the last piece of rock was crushed in the 1,001-metre-long Houay Han No. 1 Tunnel, of China-Laos railway on Sunday, and the completion was 43 days ahead of schedule.

Turkey’s largest observatory to operate in 2021

ERZURUM, 15 Nov 2019; AA: An observatory in eastern Turkey will receive the first light from space by the end of 2021.

Construction of Eastern Anatolian Observatory (DAG), which continues only five months a year due to harsh winter conditions, is nearly complete, Director Cahit Yesilyaprak told Anadolu Agency.

The observatory is located at an altitude of 3,170 meters (10,400 feet) in the Karakaya Hills in Konakli village of eastern Erzurum province.

Rouhani declares start of gas injection to 1044 centrifuges

Tehran, Nov 6, IRNA - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message referred to Iran'd 4th step of reducing JCPOA commitments and , saying gas injection to 1044 centrifuges will start on Wednesday.

"Iran’s 4th step in reducing its commitments under the JCPOA by injecting gas to 1044 centrifuges begins today," Rouhani wrote in his Twitter account on Wednesday.

"Thanks to US policy and its allies, Fordow will soon be back to full operation," he added. 

China launches Sudan's first ever satellite: official

Khartoum, Nov 6 (AFP) Sudan's first ever satellite for conducting research in military, economic and space technology has been launched by China, the northeast African country's ruling body has said.

General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who heads Sudan's sovereign council, on Tuesday announced the launch of the satellite at a meeting of his top security officials held in Khartoum.

China's state news agency, Xinhua, reported that the satellite was launched on Sunday from north China's Shanxi Province.

Hungary says Huawei to help build its 5G wireless network

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Hungary’s foreign minister says China’s Huawei will take part in the construction of the country’s next-generation 5G wireless network.

Peter Szijjarto said Tuesday in Shanghai, China, that Huawei will be cooperating with Britain’s Vodafone and Germany’s Deutsche Telekom in the project. He added that Hungary does not discriminate between companies based on their country of origin, as long as they respect Hungary’s laws and regulations.

China's lunar rover travels over 300 meters on moon's far side

BEIJING, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- China's lunar rover Yutu-2 has driven 318.62 meters on the far side of the moon to conduct scientific exploration of the virgin territory.

Both the lander and the rover of the Chang'e-4 probe have ended their work for the 11th lunar day, and switched to dormant mode for the lunar night on Monday (Beijing time), according to the Lunar Exploration and Space Program Center of the China National Space Administration.

The rover is now located 218.11 meters northwest of the lander.
