Seven Yemeni Soldiers Killed In An Al-Qaeda Explosion

ADEN, Jan 7 (NNN-SABA) – At least seven soldiers of Yemen’s government forces were killed, in an explosion carried out by al-Qaeda militants in the country’s southern province of Abyan, yesterday, a military official said.

“Members of al-Qaeda terror group, targeted a gathering of Yemen’s government forces, with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion, in Mudiyah district,” the local military official said, on condition of anonymity.

The official confirmed that the IED explosion left at least seven soldiers killed and more than eight others critically wounded.

Landmine Explosion Killed Three In Yemen

ADEN, Dec 17 (NNN-YPA) – At least three people were killed yesterday, in a landmine explosion, in Yemen’s Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, a government official said.

“The landmine explosion occurred, while a group of people, along with their children, were working on their farm in the Hays district of Hodeidah,” the local government official said, on condition of anonymity.

He said that, five others were critically injured in the explosion, and transferred to a nearby field hospital, to receive treatment.

20 Killed In Clashes Between Tribal Fighters, Gov’t Forces In Yemen’s Marib

ADEN, Yemen, Dec 17 (NNN-YPA) – At least 20 people were killed and several others injured, in intense clashes between Yemen’s government forces and tribal fighters, in the country’s oil-rich province of Marib, a security official said, yesterday.

“Heavy fighting continued between government troops and scores of tribal fighters, during the past 24 hours, leaving 12 soldiers and eight armed tribesmen killed, and several others injured from both sides,” the local security official said.

Three Yemeni Soldiers Killed, Eight Wounded In Gunmen Ambush

ADEN, Dec 10 (NNN-YPA) – Three soldiers of the Yemeni government forces were killed and eight others injured yesterday, by unidentified gunmen, who ambushed their convoy, in the country’s south-eastern province of Hadramout.

The gunmen, suspected of belonging to terror groups, ambushed the soldiers in the Al Abr District of Hadramout, a local security source said.

He noted, the ambush targeted a convoy of newly-recruited government troops, backed by Saudi Arabia in the turbulent district.

Senior Yemeni Security Official Killed In Bomb Blast

ADEN, Dec 3 (NNN-YPA) – A senior official of Yemen’s security forces was killed in a bomb blast, in the country’s turbulent southern province of Abyan yesterday, a government official said.

“Nader Nisri, the emergency operations commander, of the security forces in Abyan, was killed in a blast, caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), in Al Mahfid district of Abyan,” the local government source said, on condition of anonymity.

Three Killed In Landmine Blasts In Yemen

SANAA, Nov 30 (NNN-YPA) – Landmine explosions killed two children and a man, in Yemen yesterday, Yemen’s state TV reported.

The two children were killed in a landmine blast while herding sheep, in the Rahabah district, in the southern central province of Marib, local authorities was cited by Yemen TV as saying, adding that, a third child was wounded in the blast.

Bomb Blast Killed Five Soldiers In Yemen’s Oil-Rich Shabwa

ADEN, Nov 27 (NNN-YPA) – At least five members of Yemen’s government forces were killed yesterday, in a bomb explosion, in the country’s southern oil-rich province of Shabwa, a security official said.

“Suspected al-Qaeda gunmen targeted vehicles of the government forces, with an Improvised Explosive Device, in the western part of Shabwa, causing a huge blast in the area, located near oil fields,” the local security official said, on condition of anonymity.

Houthi Drone Attack Killed Three Gov’t Soldiers In S. Yemen

ADEN, Nov 25 (NNN-YPA) – Three Yemeni government soldiers were killed, in the southern province of Dhalea yesterday, in a drone attack launched by the Houthis, a military official, said.

“An explosive-laden drone of the Houthi rebels, struck the government’s military sites in the north-western part of Dhalea, leaving three soldiers killed and six others critically injured,” the official said, on condition of anonymity.

The Houthis intensified their drone and missile attacks against the government forces, in several southern regions in the past few days, he added.

US calls on the Houthis to stop threats to international maritime trade

22 Nov 2022; MEMO: The US restart called on Yemen's Houthis to stop their threats against international maritime trade and return to the negotiating table to end the war.

In a statement, US Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, said he had concluded a one-day visit to the interim capital, Aden, and met with the head of the internationally backed government, Maeen Abdul Malik Saeed, and other government officials.

Yemen's stolen artefacts auctioned off in US, other countries

20 Nov 2022; MEMO: Over 4,000 of Yemen's historical artefacts have been looted and smuggled out of the country where they have been auctioned off in six countries, including the US a recent report has revealed.

On Thursday, the Sanaa-based Al-Hudhud Center for Archaeological Studies published a report alleging that 4,265 of Yemen's artefacts had been stolen and sold in several countries, namely the US, Britain France, Germany, Israel and the Netherlands.
