Egypt urges Netanyahu for peace with Palestinians as key to Mideast stability

CAIRO, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a meeting in New York for a comprehensive settlement for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as key to security and stability in the Middle East region, the Egyptian presidential spokesman said in a statement on Thursday.

Arab League urges int'l pressure on Israel to halt demolition of Palestinian village

CAIRO, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League urged on Sunday the international community to exert immediate pressure on Israel to halt the demolition of Al-Khan Al-Ahmar Bedouin village east of Jerusalem.

Israel should also be pressured to halt the systematic settlement activities meant to isolate East Jerusalem, the Arab League's Palestine and the occupied Arab territories sector said in a statement.

Such moves will divide the West Bank and eliminate any chances to reach a peaceful settlement based on the two-state solution, the pan-Arab group noted.

Neolithic village discovered in Egypt's Nile Delta

CAIRO, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- An Egyptian-French mission discovered one of the oldest villages in Egypt's Nile Delta, the country's Antiquities Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

"The joint mission excavated the remains of a Neolithic settlement at the bottom level of Tell el-Samara site, whose occupation lasted until the 2nd dynasty of ancient Egypt," Ayman Ashmawi, head of Ancient Egyptian Antiquities Sector, said in a the statement.

China Harbour builds new terminal south of Egypt's Suez Canal

AIN SOKHNA, Egypt, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) started on Tuesday the main phase of the construction of a new terminal basin in Sokhna Port south of the Suez Canal northeast of Egypt.

The project was assigned to CHEC by the Sokhna branch of the Emirati corporation DP World, the main investor and container operator in the port located at the Gulf of Suez.

At a launching ceremony, CHEC said it will deliver the "Basin 2" project in fewer than 12 months ahead of the deadline.

Egypt, UN sign declaration of intent on support to Sinai development program

18 July 2018; Egypt SIS; Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr and UN Assistant Secretary General and Director of the UN Development Programe (UNDP) Regional Bureau for Arab States Mourad Wahba on Wednesday signed a declaration of intent to support Egypt's program for Sinai Peninsua development.

Minister of Environment Yasmin Fouad attended the signing ceremony which was held on the fringe of the Economic and Social Council Forum on Financing for Development, currently in session in New York.
