Indian drug firms recall various products in US market, per USFDA enforcement

New Delhi, Nov 15 (PTI) Indian drug firms like Marksans Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma, Zydus and Jubilant are recalling products in the US market, as per the latest enforcement report by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).

While Marksans Pharma is recalling diabetes drug, Zydus Pharmaceuticals (USA) is recalling drug which is used to reduce stomach acid.

Delhi's air quality turns 'severe' on Diwali

New Delhi, Nov 14 (PTI) Delhi's air quality turned "severe" on Diwali with stubble burning accounting for 32 per cent of the city's PM2.5 pollution and calm winds worsening the situation as they allowed accumulation of pollutants, weather officials said.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences' air quality monitor, SAFAR, said, "Even a small increase in local additional emissions is likely to have significant deterioration impact on Sunday and Monday."

It said peak levels of PM10 and PM2.5 are expected between 1 am and 6 am in case of additional internal emissions.

Iran blames US sanctions for vaccine payment problems

Battling a third wave of the coronavirus, Iran is considering imposing a two-week total lockdown in the capital, state media reported as the death toll rose by 461, close to a daily record, to 40,582 on Friday.

Common mutation may make novel coronavirus more vulnerable to vaccine: study

Washington, Nov 13 (PTI) A common mutation in the novel coronavirus that has enabled it to spread quickly around the world may also make it more susceptible to a vaccine, according to a study that proves some of the first concrete findings about how SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, is evolving.

Researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the US noted that the new strain of coronavirus, called D614G, emerged in Europe and has become the most common in the world.

US: WHO not sharing enough info about China virus probe

Geneva, Nov 11 (AP/PTI) A senior US government official complained Tuesday that the World Health Organization has not shared enough information about its planned mission to China to investigate the animal origins of the coronavirus.

Garrett Grisby of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services griped that the criteria for WHO's China mission had not been shared with other nations. He spoke during a weeklong meeting of the U.H. health agency's member countries.

U.S. records 1 mln COVID-19 cases in 10 days, highest increase rate since pandemic

BEIJING, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- The United States recorded about a million cases of COVID-19 over the past 10 days, the highest increase rate since the country reported its first case in January, Reuters reported recently.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country reached 10 million on Monday, doubled in just three months since it hit 5 million on Aug. 9.

Palestine intensifies measures ahead of third wave of coronavirus

09 Nov 2020; MEMO: Palestinian Authorities in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip have applied strict measures ahead of a third wave of coronavirus infections after the number of people who have the disease increased recently.

Palestinian Health Minister, Mai Al-Kaila, announced that over the past 24 hours, three people have died of the disease, while the health authorities have recorded 549 new cases and 444 recoveries.

U.S. COVID-19 cases surpass 9.5 mln -- Johns Hopkins University

NEW YORK, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- The total number of COVID-19 cases in the United States surpassed 9.5 million on Thursday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

U.S. COVID-19 case count rose to 9,516,790, with the national death toll reaching 234,011, as of 12:25 p.m. local time (1625 GMT), according to the CSSE.

China bans foreigners from 8 virus-hit countries

BEIJING — China has temporarily banned the entry of foreigners from at least eight countries as COVID-19 cases rise in Europe and elsewhere.

Non-Chinese can no longer enter from Russia, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Philippines, India and Bangladesh, even if they hold a valid visa or residence permit for China.

Embassies in those countries have posted online notices in recent days announcing the temporary suspension of entry.

China has enacted strict measures to guard against new infections from abroad.
