India: Khandwa district judge tests COVID-19 positive

Jabalpur, Jun 8 (PTI) A lower court judge has tested positive for coronavirus in Khandwa district, leading the Madhya Pradesh High Court administration to assign his duties and that of others to the session judge of Burhanpur on Monday, an official said.

After the district judge tested positive for COVID-19, his colleagues were quarantined as a precaution, he said.

India's virus count over 2.6 lakh, daily spike inching close to 10,000-mark

New Delhi, Jun 9 (PTI) A record rise in COVID-19 cases in India for the seventh consecutive day has pushed the tally to over 2.6 lakh on Tuesday, with the daily nationwide spike in coronavirus cases inching close to 10,000.

The rise in cases comes at a time when the country has stepped out of a 75-day coronavirus lockdown with malls, religious places and offices opening in several parts of the country under strict conditions.

Singapore’s Corona Tally Stands At 38,514 With 218 New Cases

SINGAPORE, June 9 (Bernama) — Singapore has reported 218 new cases of COVID-19 as at noon Tuesday, with the majority still involving foreign workers at dormitories, thus raising the tally to 38,514.

Of the 218 cases, only six were from the community and all are work pass holders, said the republic’s Ministry of Health (MOH) in a statement here.

There were no new cases involving Singaporeans or permanent residents, it said.

WHO says corona situation ‘worsening’ worldwide

The WHO said it had recorded its highest daily tally of new infections, with COVID-19 raging in the Americas.

Armenian Prime Minister says he recovered from corona virus

YEREVAN, June 9 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his family have recovered from the coronavirus, the leader of the ex-Soviet country badly hit by the pandemic said.

“We have just received the results of our repeat tests,” Pashinyan, 45, said on Facebook. All of his tests and those of his family were negative, he added.

The Armenian leader announced on his birthday, June 1, that he and his family had tested positive for the virus and he would be working from home.

India: HP's COVID-19 recovery rate improves to 54 per cent

Shimla, Jun 7 (PTI) Twenty-nine COVID-19 patients in Himachal Pradesh recovered on Sunday, taking the recovery rate in the hill state to 54 per cent, officials said.

A total of 223 patients have been cured of the virus in the state so far.

The state also reported 11 fresh cases with four in Kangra, two each in Chamba and Hamirpur and one each in Mandi, Shimla and Bilaspur, they said.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 412 while six people have died of the disease.

India: COVID-19 toll rises to 7200; record jump in cases

New Delhi, Jun 8 (PTI) The novel coronavirus toll rose to 7,200 with 271 more deaths and the number of infections climbed to 2,56,611 in India on Monday after a record single-day spike of 9,983 cases, the Health Ministry said in its revised data.

The country has been registering over 9,000 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) for the fifth day in a row.

There are 1,24,981 active cases while 1,24,429 people have recovered and one patient has migrated, the ministry said in its updated data at 8 am.
