India: Regard the Constitution or face chaos: CJI

Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said that the Indians must heed to the ethics and morality of the Constitution. If we don’t, “our hubris will end with a plunge into chaos”, he warned.

Chief Justice said that the Constitution was “the voice of the marginalised as well as the prudence of the majority”.

India: 8 Naxal terrorists, two cops killed in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Nov 26; PTI: Eight Naxals and two police personnel were killed in an encounter between ultras and security men in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Monday, police said.

The gunbattle took place at a forest in Kistaram area bordering Telangana, around 500 km from here, when a team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxal operation, Sukma's Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI.

Eight bodies of Naxals have been found at the encounter spot, he said.

India: Maha farmer with Rs 27 lakh debt commits sucide

Nashik, Nov 26 : A farmer with a Rs 27 lakh debt died in a private hospital after allegedly consuming poison on November 11, a Nashik Rural police official said Monday.

Vithal Lahanu Jadhav (38) had taken loans of Rs 27 lakh from various credit societies for his grape orchard and was unable to repay them, the official added.

Jadhav was admitted to a local hospital in Niphad taluka in the district after his alleged suicide attempt on November 11 and died Sunday, the official informed.

India: KCR slams Shah for opposing quota to Muslims

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (PTI) Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao Monday slammed BJP chief Amit Shah for his opposition to the TRS government's proposal to increase reservation for Muslims in the state.

Rao, who was speaking at an election rally at Dichpally, said he will continue his efforts to get quotas increased for Scheduled Tribes and Muslims.

India: Campaigning ends in MP, polls on Nov 28

Bhopal, Nov 26 (PTI) Curtains came down Monday evening on the acrimonious campaigning for the high-stakes November 28 assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, where star campaigners of the BJP, the Congress and other parties addressed a series of rallies and held roadshows to seek support for candidates.

Canvassing came to a formal end at 5 pm and voting to elect a new 230-member assembly will take place on Wednesday. As many as 2,907 candidates are in the fray.

Nagaland CM launches Tourist Police in the state

Kohima, Nov 26 (PTI) Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio Monday launched Nagaland Tourist Police which will work for the safety and security of the tourist and report any crime against them to the nearest police station.

Rio also flagged off the Tourist Police vehicles and inaugurated the Integrated Police Control Room for tourist while also releasing booklet comprising important contacts along with important tourist spots, details of all homestay and hotels.

ISRO to launch India's HysIS with 30 foreign satellites

Bengaluru, Nov 26 (PTI) ISRO is all set to launch its workhorse rocket PSLV-C43 carrying India's earth observation satellite HysIS and 30 co-passenger satellites, including 23 from the US, from Sriharikota on November 29.

The space agency said the 45th flight of PSLV will be launched from the First Launch Pad (FLP) of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota.

"HysIS is an earth observation satellite developed by ISRO. It is the primary satellite of the PSLV-C43 mission.

'Grand alliance' releases common agenda for governance

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (PTI): The opposition Congress, TDP, CPI and Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS), who formed a "grand alliance" for the December 7 assembly polls in Telangana, Monday released a common agenda for governance.

The "grand alliance" would be known as the "people's front", the parties said.

The agenda was released by Congress president in Telangana N Uttam Kumar Reddy, TDP's state unit president L Ramana, TJS president M Kodandaram and CPI's incharge state secretary Palla Venkat Reddy.

India: 1,821 candidates in fray for Telangana Assembly polls

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (PTI) As many as 1,821 candidates are left in the fray for 119 constituencies in the December 7 Telangana Assembly polls, the state election commission said Monday.

The commission is coming out with the official figure Monday after withdrawal of nominations ended on November 22.

According to an official release, 1,762 nominations were either rejected or withdrawn.

Election officials had Thursday said the final number of candidates left in the fray would be known after receipt of information from the constituencies.
