India: Woman architect molested by six men in south Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 4 (PTI) A woman architect was allegedly molested and assaulted by six unidentified men at an upscale colony in south Delhi, police said on Monday.

The woman, who lives with her husband and two children at Sainik Farms, was on her way home from office around 7 pm on Sunday, the police said.

According to the complainant, who works at a firm in the same colony, five-six men stood in front of the car. When she rolled down the window and asked them to move aside, one of them rushed towards her all of a sudden and groped her.

India: Ashok Leyland showcases BS-VI trucks, buses

Chennai, Nov 4 (PTI) Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland showcased its wide range of Bharat Stage VI trucks and buses in Chennai on Monday.

The city-based commercial vehicle major has become the first Indian original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to meet the BS-VI emission norms across the full range of heavy-duty trucks of 16.2 tonne or above.

"..in focus with our aspirations of being among the top 10 global commercial vehicle maker, we have yet again come up with an innovative technology to address the BS VI norms," Leyland chairman Dheeraj G Hinduja said here.

Kashmir: Ten shops gutted in fire in Srinagar's Batamaloo

Srinagar, Nov 5 (PTI) Ten shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Iqbal market in Srinagar's Batamaloo area, police said on Tuesday.

The fire broke out on Monday night in Batamaloo area of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

Ten shops were gutted. The cause of the fire is believed to be a short-circuit, a police official said, ruling out any attempts of sabotage.

He, however, said the police have taken samples from the spot and sent them for forensic examination.

India: Ayodhya prepares for Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid verdict, Section 144 imposed

Ayodhya; 5 Nov 2019 (UMM): District magistrate (DM) Ayodhya has imposed Section 144, and issued directives prohibiting people from making defamatory remarks against any religion, community, deities, eminent personalities on social media platforms. People have also been barred from holding any event regarding the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.

The prohibitory orders will continue till December 10, officials said.

India: I am a radical humanist, says Aparna Sen

Kolkata, Nov 4 (PTI) Known for being vocal on socio- political issues, film-maker Aparna Sen said she has always been a believer in issue-based politics and would love to call herself a 'radical humanist'.

Sen said, she would talk about the right or wrong steps committed by any party or organisation, if she felt the need.

"I am basically a radical humanist, a believer in secular ideals. But I have never come to the support of any particular party or group because I am a believer in issue- based politics only," Sen told PTI.

India: Man held for raping woman in Maha

Mumbai, Nov 4 (PTI) A 26-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a 36-year-old woman known to him in suburban Vikhroli last week, police said.

According to police, the accused, Adipta Bhaumik, had called the woman to a building on Saturday night under the pretext that he was hosting a bash.

When the woman reached the spot, he allegedly took her to an isolated spot near the building and raped her, a police official said quoting the FIR.

28 tons seized drugs destroyed in Afghanistan: police

KABUL, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan authorities burned about 28 tons of seized narcotic drugs in two provinces on Sunday, the latest in the fight against illicit drug trafficking.

In northern Baghlan province, some 15 tons of narcotics were put on fire and destroyed by provincial police on the outskirts of provincial capital Pul-e-Khumri city, provincial police chief Gen. Wais Ahmad Samimi told reporters at the site.

India: Authorities use air purifier to protect Taj Mahal from pollution

NEW DELHI, Nov 4 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Authorities in India’s Uttar Pradesh state have placed an air purifier at the Taj Mahal to protect the iconic Mughal-era monument in Agra from toxic pollution that has hit northern India.

The air purifier vehicle deployed at the famous tourist attraction by the state’s pollution control department has a capacity to clean 1.5 million cubic metre air in eight hours within a 300-metre radius, Indian media reported on Sunday.

Bangladesh Nobel Laureate Granted Bail By Court

DHAKA, Nov 4 (NNN-BSS) – A court in Bangladesh’s capital, gave bail to Nobel laureate, Muhammad Yunus, on Sunday afternoon, over the firing of his three employees.

Dhaka 3rd Labour Court acting Chairman, Zakia Parveen, granted the order when Yunus, chairman of Grameen Communications, appeared before the court. He was given bail in connection with three cases filed over the sacking of three employees.
