India: HC grants bail to main accused of Bulandshahr violence

Prayagraj, Sep 26 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to local Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Raj, the main accused in the 2018 Bulandshahr violence case that left a police officer and a civilian dead.

Justice Siddharth allowed the bail application of Yogesh Raj on Wednesday.

The advocate appearing for the petitioner argued that Raj had no role in the violence and that the other accused were already enlarged on bail in this matter.

India: Tribunal upholds ban on JKLF-Yasin Malik

New Delhi, Sept 26 (PTI) A tribunal of the Delhi High Court has upheld the ban imposed on Yasin Malik-led Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Home Ministry said.

The ban on JKLF-Yasin was upheld by the tribunal headed by Justice Chander Shekhar, a Judge of the Delhi High Court, a Home Ministry notification said on Wednesday night.

The JKLF-Yasin was banned on March 22 this year for "promoting" secession of the militancy-hit state from the Union of India.

India: AAP appoints Sanjay Singh in-charge for Delhi polls

New Delhi, Sep 26 (PTI) The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday appointed senior leader Sanjay Singh as its in-charge for the forthcoming assembly elections in Delhi.

The AAP also appointed its national secretary Pankaj Gupta as the campaign director for the polls, at a meet of its Political Affairs Committee chaired by convenor Arvind Kejriwal.

In a statement, the AAP said the appointments are a part of its election strategy as dates for the Delhi elections are likely to be announced soon.

6.5-Magnitude Quake Jolts Eastern Indonesia, No Tsunami Alert Issued

JAKARTA, Sept 26 (NNN-ANTARA) – A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Indonesia’s eastern Maluku province early today (Thursday), but there was no risk of a tsunami, the Meteorology and Geophysics agency said.

The agency revised the quake’s magnitude down to 6.5 from an earlier measurement of 6.8, official at the agency, Ali Imron, said.

The tremor of the quake caused minor damages to infrastructure facilities, disaster agency officials said.

Bangladesh’s Eastern Bank Set To Operate In China’s Guangzhou

DHAKA, Sept 26 (NNN-XINHUA) – Bangladesh’s leading Eastern Bank Limited (EBL), is all set to open its representative office in China’s Guangzhou province, according to the bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ali Reza Iftekhar.

He said, the bank is expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia with its sights set on Guangzhou, in China’s south, as the second largest world economy is an important market, with many development initiatives like Belt and Road Initiative and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

Omar extends Pakistan’s support to idea of making hydrogen energy affordable fuel

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP): Minister for Energy Omar Khan Wednesday extended Pakistan’s support to the efforts and innovative idea of making hydrogen energy as an affordable and reliable source of fuel supplies.

In his address at the 2nd Hydrogen Energy Ministerial Conference held in Tokyo, he emphasized that the price of Hydrogen Energy supplies needed to be reduced as compared to conventional fuels to make it a fuel of choice, said a press release issued here.

India: Woman raped at Jaipur hotel, manager arrested

Jaipur, Sep 25 (PTI) A hotel manager was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a woman here, police said.

The woman was staying at the hotel that falls under Jawahar Nagar Police Station limits, they said.

Devendra was arrested after she lodged a complaint early Wednesday morning, police said, adding that the incident took place last night.

The matter is being investigated, they said.

India: NRC won't happen in Bengal : Mamata

Midnapore (WB), Sep 25 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday allayed fears among the people that NRC exercise will be carried out in the state.

Addressing an administrative meeting at Debra in West Midnapore district, Banerjee said it is shocking that people have commited suicide fearing that NRC would be implemented in the state.

"NRC will not happen in Bengal," she said.

India: Farmers interest limited to ads under BJP govt in UP: Priyanka

New Delhi, Sep 25 (PTI) Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday alleged that under the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh the issue of farmers interest was only limited to advertisements and billboards.

Her scathing criticism came over a media report that a farmer's son committed suicide in Saharanpur over alleged harassment by the electricity department and the police.

"The issue of farmers interest under the Uttar Pradesh BJP (government) has been limited only to advertisements and billboards," she said in a tweet in Hindi.
