India: BSP prepares to fight Govindnagar assembly by-poll

Kanpur: In view of the assembly by-election of Govindnagar seat here, the Bahujan Samaj Party has not only declared its candidate for the seat but also effected certain important changes in its Mahanagar unit.

Amidst the guesses and calculations, the BSP has declared the name of its chosen candidate. Though other candidates' name had also announced with this candidate.

Bhosale's cousin Shivendrasinh Bhosale recently resigned as NCP MLA and joined the BJP.

Bangladesh Poverty Rate Falls By 50 Percent In 10 Years

DHAKA, Bangladesh, Aug 28 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladeshi Foreign Minister, AK Abdul Momen, said the government successfully reduced the poverty rate by 50 percent, in the last 10 years.

“Bangladesh is one of the two countries in the world, where poverty rate has declined the most,” Momen was quoted as saying, in a report on Tuesday.

Momen made the remarks, while speaking at a programme in Dhaka, marking the country’s National Mourning Day, and 44th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Bangladeshi Nation, Bangabandhu, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Maldives to interconnect and develop all the islands

MALE, Maldives, Aug 28 (NNN-PSM) – The Maldivian government, on Tuesday said, it will begin to interconnect and develop all the islands in the country, in order to boost the economy of these local islands.

Planning Minister, Mohamed Aslam, speaking in parliament, said that, the government will develop all the islands under the country’s National Development Plan.

India: plea to remove restrictions on journalists; SC issues notices to Centre

New Delhi, Aug 28; GANASHAKTI: The Supreme Court Wednesday asked the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir administration to reply to the pleas seeking removal of several regressive restrictions in the state, including the communications blockade, that are hampering the functioning of the media after the abrogation of Article 370.

The apex court issued notices on the two petitions, filed by Anuradha Bhasin, Executive Editor of Kashmir Times and Congress activist Tehseen Poonawalla.

Talking to a private news channel he said Pakistan is determined to expose Indian policies over Kashmir on international fora. India has turned the Kashmir valley into a military garrison and even Indian politicians are not allowed to visit the valley.

Delhi: Student protest pre-planned attack by ABVP - student wing of BJP

New Delhi; 27 Aug 2019; GANASHAKTI: Condemning the attack, several students and teachers bodies including Bhagat Singh Chatra Ekta Manch (BSCEM), Progressive Democratic Students’ Federation (PDSF), All India Students’ Association, Pinjra Tod and SFI held a protest gathering today August 26 at Delhi University’s Arts Faculty.

During the protest, student activists alleged that it was a pre-planned attack and the police is delaying to take appropriate action against the perpetrators of the incident.
