Fawad warns India of befitting response if war imposed

LAHORE, Aug 25 (APP): Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said that war was never an option, but Pakistan was ready to retaliate in a befitting manner if India would go for any misadventure or impose a war on the country.

Addressing a press conference after his visit to Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CP&WB) here, he said Pakistan had made all-out efforts to normalise relations with India, but it had not been reciprocated.

Pakistan will fight case of Kashmiris on global fora: Sheikh Rashid

MIRPUR (AJK): Aug 25 (APP): Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said that Pakistan will fight the case of the people of Jammu and Kashmir on all forums the world. “The entire world has moved to raise voice against the Indian atrocities in the disputed Indian Occupied State”, he said during a meeting with Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan in AJK’s metropolis on Sunday.

Kartarpur corridor perfect example of inter-religious harmony in world: Firdous

ISLAMABAD, Aug 25 (APP): Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Sunday expressed that Kartarpur corridor was a perfect example of inter-faith harmony as its completion would further promote peaceful co-existence of people from various beliefs and civilizations.   
 
Dr Firdous, in a tweet, said the devotees belonging to Sikh community from India and other parts of the world could perform their religious rituals freely in Pakistan after completion of this project.

India: More Hindus forging documents in Assam to find way into NRC

Guwahati, Aug 25 (PTI) With the hugely contentious NRC exposing communal faultlines in Assam, it has emerged that more Hindus than Muslims forged documents to find their way into the National Register of Citizens, sources with close knowledge of the exercise said on Sunday.

The final NRC list, which will identify bonafide citizens of Assam, is set to be published on August 31. The exercise of updating the NRC, unique to Assam, is being conducted under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

India: Situation not normal in Kashmir: D Raja

Hyderabad, Aug 25 (PTI) Describing the abrogation of provisions of Article 370 by the NDA government as "unconstitutional and undemocratic," Communist Party of India general secretary D Raja said on Sunday the situation was not normal in Kashmir.

Raja was part of the 11-member delegation of opposition parties from Delhi which wanted to visit the Valley to take stock of the situation there after the revoking of the Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

However, the leaders were not allowed to leave the Srinagar airport by the administration on Saturday.

India: Man held in UP for sharing objectionable Hindu deity posts on social media

Lucknow, Aug 25 (PTI) A man was arrested here for allegedly posting objectionable comments and images on social media to hurt religious sentiments of people, police said on Sunday.

The accused was arrested on Saturday for sharing objectionable posts and images relating to a Hindu deity on Facebook, police said in a statement.

A case has been registered against the man under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, the statement said.

India: Kashmir state flag removed from Civil Secretariat

Srinagar, Aug 25 (PTI) The flag of Jammu and Kashmir which used to fly along with the tricolour was removed from the Civil Secretariat here on Sunday, three weeks after the Centre revoked Article 370 provisions which granted special status to the state, officials said.

Under Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir was permitted to have its own flag, which was red in colour with three equidistant white vertical strips and a white plough.

Security forces kill 2 Taliban mine makers in N. Afghanistan

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The security forces have killed two mine experts of the Taliban outfit in Khan Abad district of Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province on Saturday, district governor Hayatullah Amiri said on Sunday.

According to the official, the security forces stormed a house in Chartot area in the restive Khan Abad district on Saturday afternoon, killing two mine experts who were busy making mines to target security personnel.

No civilian had been hurt during the raid, the official said, and the Taliban militants haven't commented.

Rohingya refugees protest exodus, demand rights in Myanmar

COX’S BAZAR, Bangladesh (AP) — Thousands of angry and frustrated Rohingya refugees marked the second anniversary of their exodus from Myanmar into Bangladesh on Sunday by demanding their citizenship and other rights in the country they fled from.

The event came days after Bangladesh with the help of the U.N. refugee agency attempted to start the repatriation of 3,450 Rohingya Muslims but none agreed to go back voluntarily. Myanmar had scheduled Aug. 22 for the beginning of the process but it failed for a second time after the first attempt last November.

PM to raise Kashmir plight at UNGA next month: Sarwar

RAWALPINDI, Aug 24 (APP): Minister for Aviation, Ghulam Sarwar Khan Saturday said Prime Minister Imran Khan would effectively highlight prevailing situation in Kashmir at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to grab attention of the international community to pressurize India stop its genocide in the Held Kashmir.
