India: Humbled by PM Modi's attention to my speeches: Omar

Srinagar, Apr 1 (PTI) National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah on Monday said he was humbled by the attention paid by Narendra Modi to his speeches after the prime minister hit out at the Congress over his remarks advocating a separate "Sadar-e-Riyasat" (president) and PM for Jammu and Kashmir.

"I'm humbled by the attention PM Modi pays to my speeches & very grateful to the social media cell of the BJP for highlighting my speech today, especially by WhatsApp'ing it to journalists. Your reach is far greater than mine," Abdullah wrote on Twitter.

India: Yogi insulted martyrs by calling Army Modi's sena

New Delhi, Apr 1 (PTI) The Congress on Monday accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of usurping the Army's valour by calling it "Modi's Army" and said it was an insult to our slain jawans and officers and a violation of the Election Commission's (EC) norms.

"Adityanath's usurpation of the Army's valour by calling it Modi's army is an insult to our martyrs as also to the valour and sacrifices of our bravehearts.

India: Yogi calls Indian Army 'Modi ji ki sena'

Ghaziabad, Apr 1 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the Indian Army as "Modi ji ki sena" (Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Army) during an election campaign for the BJP here.

Hitting out at Opposition parties over a host of governance issues Sunday, Adityanath said what was "impossible" for the Congress, Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party is possible under the BJP rule.

India: Walsh gives bowling tips to young cricketers

Kanpur: In order to prepare fast bowlers in Uttar Pradesh, Courtney Walsh, former fast bowler of West Indies gave tips to budding cricket players in a 15-day bowling training camp here on Monday morning. 

Interacting with the young players, the big name in the cricket world suggested them the initial informations about the fast bowling. He pointed out that a bowler's laxity beneits the batsman fully. Through the video clips he made them clear how to improve over errors. 

GST collection records Rs 1.06 lakh cr in March

New Delhi, Apr 1; PTI/GANASHAKTI: GST collections scaled record high of Rs 1.06 lakh crore in March, up from Rs 97,247 crore in the previous month, as compliance improved amid increased number of returns filed.

"Total gross GST revenue collected in March, 2019 is Rs 1,06,577 crore of which Central GST is Rs 20,353 crore, State GST is Rs 27,520 crore, Integrated GST is Rs 50,418 crore and cess is Rs 8,286 crore," an official statement said.

Total number of summary sales return GSTR-3B filed for the month of February up to March 31, stood at 75.95 lakh.

India successfully launches EMISAT and 28 foreign satellites

Sriharikota:  Apr 1; GANASHAKTI:  India's EMISAT satellite and 28 foreign nano satellites were Monday successfully launched onboard ISRO's trusted workhorse Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre here.

The rocket, PSLV-C45, injected the 436 kg EMISAT, aimed at electromagnetic measurement, and 28 co-passenger satellites belonging to Lithuania, Spain, Switzerland and the US, into their designated orbits, ISRO said.

India: RBI may go for 25 bps rate cut on April 4

New Delhi, Mar 31 (PTI) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) may cut key lending rates by another 25 basis points on Thursday to boost economic activities amid fears of global slowdown impacting domestic growth prospects, experts said.

The RBI had reduced the repo rate by 25 basis points in February after a gap of 18 months. A back-to-back cut in interest rate would provide relief to borrowers in the election season.

27 killed, 400 injured as massive rainstorm hits Nepal

Kathmandu, Apr 1 (PTI) At least 27 people were killed and 400 others injured as a massive rainstorm hit several places in Southern Nepal on Sunday, flipping vehicles and toppling trees and electricity poles.

The rainstorm swept through villages in Bara and Parsa districts on Sunday night. According to officials, 26 were killed in Bara, 128 kilometers south of Kathmandu, while one person died in neighbouring Parsa.

Visakhapatnam, Mar 31 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal Sunday rallied behind TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, seeking another term for him in Andhra Pradesh while also flaying the Modi government for allegedly destroying democratic institutions.

At an election rally here, which she described as the launch of her Lok Sabha poll campaign, Banerjee urged the BJP's sister organisations not to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party chief Amit Shah during the national polls.

Indian Polls: Rahul refused alliance with AAP: Kejriwal

Vishakhanpatnam, April 1 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Monday said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi has refused to forge an alliance with the AAP for the Lok Sabha polls in the national capital.

Talking to reporters at the airport here, the AAP leader said he had met Gandhi recently and the Congress leader had refused to join hands with the AAP .

Asked about Congress' Delhi unit president Sheila Dikshit's remarks that Kejriwal never approached her for an alliance, the chief minister said, We have met Rahul Gandhi. Dikshit is not that important leader.
