Two policemen, DD cameraman killed Naxal terrorists

Raipur, Oct 30 (PTI) Two policemen and a cameraperson of Doordarshan were killed and two others were injured in a Maoist attack on Tuesday in poll-bound Chhattisgarhs Dantewada district.

The incident took place at around 11 am in a forest area near Nilawaya village, around 450 kms from here, Deputy Inspector General (anti-naxal operations) Sundarraj P told PTI.

The maoists ambushed a squad of local police which was carrying out patrolling on motor cycles from Sameli camp towards Nilawaya on Tuesday morning, he said.

Rupee skids 23 paise to 73.68 against US dollar

Mumbai, Oct 30 (PTI) The rupee Tuesday depreciated by 23 paise to close at 73.68 against the US dollar in line with fall in equities amid steady capital outflows and the strengthening of the American unit against major rivals overseas.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange, the rupee opened lower at 73.58 and lost further ground to hit an intra-day low of 73.70 against the US dollar on strong demand for the American currency from importers.

However, the rupee clawed back some lost ground and finally settled the day at 73.68, down by 23 paise.

People are feeling betrayed by PM Modi: Rahul Gandhi

Dhar (MP), Oct 30 (PTI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi alleged on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has "failed" to keep his electoral promise of ushering in "acche din" (good days) and people are feeling "betrayed" now.

Canvassing for the Congress in Dhar in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, Gandhi also accused the prime minister of helping only select industrialists while neglecting farmers, tribals and youth of the country.

Saffron coloured buses ply on roads

KANPUR: Roadways girds up its loins to ply the saffron coloured buses on the roads. These special buses were assembled at Central workshop here.

As many as 25 buses were allotted for Kanpur region. According to the Regional Manager Atul Jain, a total of 100 buses have been assembled at Ram Manohar Lohia Workshop and Central Workshop here. The buses’ registration has also been completed.

As many as 12 students injured in the fight. There was stone pelting, smashing of window panes and kick punching continued. The senior students of Tilak Hostel and junior students of Karpuri Hostel came to gory blows.

India: Uttarakhand High Court bans 857 porn sites

Following High Court  orders, Uttarakhand government has directed Internet service providers to block 827 websites that host pornographic content.

According to The Indian Express, “While the Uttarakhand High Court has asked to block 857 websites, the Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) found 30 portals without any pornographic content.”

India, US talks ongoing to resolve trade issues

New Delhi, Oct 28 (PTI) Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu has said India and the US have exchanged offers for a possible trade deal with a view to resolving issues related to bilateral commerce.

"The negotiations are ongoing. Of course, at this stage they have given an offer and we have also given a counter-offer and we are working on it," he said at an event here Saturday.

The statement assumes significance as India has deferred a notification for hiking import duties on as many as 29 US products.

Wickremesinghe's arrogance led to his sacking: Sirisena

Colombo, Oct 28 (PTI) Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Sunday said that Ranil Wickremesinghe was sacked due to his "arrogant" behaviour, and asserted that former strongman Mahinda Rajapaksa has been made the new premier in strict accordance with the Constitution.

In his first address to the nation after the dramatic move to sack Wickremesinghe on Friday night, Sirisena said Wickremsinghe's political conduct since the victory in 2015 was unbecoming.

Minor's rape-murder: Accused arrested from Ratlam in MP

Indore, Oct 28 (PTI) A 25-year-old man accused of raping and killing a minor in Dwarkapuri area of Madhya Pradesh's Indore district on October 25 was Sunday arrested, a senior police official said.

Honey Athwal, who has previously been arrested as a minor for rape and murder, had abducted the 4-year-old girl when she was returning after attending tuition classes Thursday evening.

The victim was allegedly raped and strangulated and her body was discovered in a drain under Krishnapura bridge here Saturday, police had said.
