Israeli airstrike targets Aleppo airport in Syria

28 August 2023; MEMO: Israel launched an airstrike against Aleppo International Airport in northern Syria, putting it out of service, according to Syrian state media, reports Anadolu agency.

SANA news agency, citing a military source, said Israeli warplanes fired missiles from over the Mediterranean Sea, west of the coastal Syrian city of Latakia, and targeted Aleppo International Airport.

The attack caused heavy damage to the airport’s runway and forced it out of service, the source said.

Turkiye Parliament speaker condemns Cyprus mosque attack

29 August 2023; MEMO: Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus condemned the attack on a mosque in the Greek Cypriot administration’s city of Limassol.

In a post he published on his social media accounts on Sunday, Kurtulmus conveyed his strong condemnation of the attack on the historic Koprulu Haci Ibrahim Aga mosque.

Turkiye, Saudi seek $30bn in trade exchanges

29 August 2023; MEMO: Riyadh and Ankara seek to increase their trade exchange to $30 billion in the medium and long terms, according to the head of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkiye (TOBB), Rifat Hisarciklioglu.

In a speech he delivered yesterday during a Turkish-Saudi roundtable meeting in the Turkish capital, Ankara, Hisarciklioglu said a significant growth in trade exchange between Turkiye and Saudi Arabia is expected by the end of this year.

Palestinian Authorities Urge International Pressure On Israel To Stop Sponsoring Settler Groups

RAMALLAH, Aug 28 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian authorities yesterday called for international pressure on the Israeli government, to stop the sponsorship of settler groups in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry made the appeal in a press statement, after groups of Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian farms in the West Bank on Saturday.

Holding the right-wing government of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, “fully and directly responsible for these attacks,” the ministry said, “the results of such acts would create more tension in the area.”

Israeli PM Says Hamas To Pay “Full Price” If It Attacks Israel

JERUSALEM, Aug 28 (NNN-MA’AN) – Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, yesterday said, Hamas shall pay full price, if they try to carry out attacks against Israel.

“Whoever tries to hurt us, whoever finances and organises, whoever dispatches terrorists against Israel, will pay the full price,” said Netanyahu in a televised statement.

The remark came, after Hamas’ deputy political chief, Salah al-Arouri threatened a “multi-front war,” if Israel tried to assassinate more Palestinian leaders.

Syria Accuses U.S. Of Plundering Resources, Destroying Infrastructure

DAMASCUS, Aug 28 (NNN-SANA) – Syria’s national railway operator, accused U.S. forces of dismantling infrastructure, including railways, and looting national resources within Syrian territories under their control.

U.S. forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continued to seize infrastructure and machinery, including locomotives and trucks, in the eastern province of Deir al-Zour and the north-eastern province of Hasakah, the General Establishment of Syrian Railways was quoted as saying in a statement.

Iran begins gas production at Phase 11 of South Pars field

TEHRAN, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Monday officially started gas production at Phase 11 of the South Pars field located in its southern waters, the official news agency IRNA reported.

The announcement was made in an inauguration ceremony held in the southern port city of Asaluyeh in the presence of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, said the report.

At the ceremony, Raisi said the development project of Phase 11 is being fully implemented by domestic experts, according to a statement published on the website of his office.

Syria's Aleppo airport out of service after Israeli attack: Syrian army

DAMASCUS, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Aleppo International Airport in the northern Syrian province of Aleppo went out of service as a result of an Israeli attack targeting the airport early Monday, the Syrian army said in a statement.

The air attack was carried out at about 4:30 a.m. (0130 GMT), from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, west of the northwestern Syrian province of Latakia, according to the statement.

The attack caused material damage to the airport runway and put it out of service, the statement said without providing further details.
