According to the report, February diesel and gasoil exports to Turkiye could reach a record high of 1 million tons.

Syria President Assad arrives in Moscow, will meet Putin

15 Mar 2023; MEMO: Syrian President, Bashar Al-Assad, arrived in Moscow on Tuesday on his first official visit outside the Middle East since last month's devastating earthquake, according to a statement from the Syrian Presidency via the Telegram messaging app, Reuters reports.

Assad will hold talks with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, during his visit, alongside a large Syrian ministerial delegation, the statement said.

Turkiye's presidential candidate pledges to expel Syria refugees

15 Mar 2023; MEMO: Kemal Kilicdaroglu, Turkiye's opposition candidate for the presidency, yesterday pledged to expel Syrian refugee from the country should he became president, RT Arabic reported.

Kilicdaroglu, the candidate of the opposition Nation Alliance, gave these remarks during a press conference held at the Turkish-Syrian borders.

He stressed that the Syrian refugees in Turkiye would be returned to their country within two years after he becomes president.

Egypt: Suicide attempts in prison prompt calls for international probe

15 Mar 2023; MEMO: Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) has called on the UN Human Rights Council to "investigate allegations of serious abuse recently revealed at the notorious Badr Prison" in Egypt.

It noted that three leaked messages from detainees inside Badr Prison Wing 3 were verified by DAWN in an interview with a source who has friends and relatives detained in the detention centre, as well as reports of widespread abuse and suicide attempts in the complex.

Saudi Energy Minister: We will not sell oil to any country that sets a price cap

15 Mar 2023; MEMO: Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman yesterday said that there is a possibility of imposing a price cap on Saudi oil exports and "we will not sell oil to any country that imposes a cap on our supplies."

Prince Abdulaziz made his remarks in an interview published by Energy Intelligence, which was reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) in response to a question about reintroducing the NOPEC bill.

No regrets from the Iraqi who threw his shoes at Bush

BAGHDAD, March 14 (Reuters) - Iraqi journalist Muntazer al-Zaidi gained fame for hurling his shoes at President George W. Bush in a news conference to show his anger at the corruption and chaos that followed the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. He is still furious.

"The same people who entered 20 years ago with the occupier are still ruling despite failures and corruption. The United States knows very well that it brought in pseudo politicians," he told Reuters, recounting his actions back in 2008 during the Baghdad media briefing.
