Elections shine spotlight on Tunisia’s troubled democracy

TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) — Tunisia’s president and its shaky, decade-long experiment with democracy are facing an important test Sunday as voters cast ballots in the second round of parliamentary elections.

Turnout was just 11% in the first round of voting last month, according to the electoral commission, as many disaffected Tunisians stayed away and the influential Islamist party Ennahdha and other opposition movements boycotted.

Turkey issues travel warning to Europe following protests

ISTANBUL (AP) — Turkey issued a travel warning late Saturday for its citizens living in or planning on going to European countries, citing Islamophobia and anti-Turkish demonstrations.

The warning comes after last weekend’s protests in Sweden where an anti-Islam activist burned the Quran and pro-Kurdish groups protested against Turkey.

The Turkish foreign ministry urged its citizens to take precautions and stay away from demonstration areas. It also said they should go to local authorities if they face xenophobic or racist attacks.

UAE: Iran says drone attack targets defense facility in Isfahan

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Bomb-carrying drones targeted an Iranian defense factory in the central city of Isfahan overnight, authorities said early Sunday, causing some damage at the plant amid heightened regional and international tensions engulfing the Islamic Republic.

The Iranian Defense Ministry offered no information on who it suspected carried out the attack, which came as a refinery fire separately broke out in the country’s northwest and a 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck nearby, killing three people.

Turkish firm chosen to develop 'critical' NATO intelligence software

Iran says drone attack on defense facility in Isfahan failed

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Ministry of Defense has announced that a quadcopter drone attack on a defense industrial complex in the central Iranian province of Isfahan has failed.

In a statement released early on Sunday, the Ministry said that one of three drones attacking the defense equipment manufacturing complex in Isfahan was downed by a defense system stationed inside the facility and two others exploded after being caught in traps set by the defense system.

India: Kanpur zoo safe with cash recovered from under wooden bridge

Kanpur: The police recovered the stolen two-and-a-half quintal vault from the cash room of the Kanpur Zoo during a combing operation on Saturday.

A sum of 5.95 lakh cash kept in the safe has also been reportedly found.

Due to the vigilance of the police, the thieves could not take out the safe.

The police are interrogating the employees posted on night duty in custody based on suspicion.

According to ACP Colonelganj Akmal Khan, all the gates of the zoo were closed and the movement was banned.

Israeli settler violence comes to Europe through virtual reality
