USA: 136 congressmen, 30 senators seek reversal of Trump admin's decision on international students

Washington, Jul 10 (PTI) A group of 136 US Democratic congressmen and 30 senators, including Indian-origin Kamala Harris, has urged the Trump administration to reverse its "cruel" order that bars international students from staying in the country if they do not have in-person classes to attend.

Australia: Queensland locks out people from virus spots in Victoria

Canberra, Jul 9 (AP/PTI) An Australian state has closed its doors to people fleeing a second lockdown in Australia's second-largest city.

Queensland Health Minister Steven Miles said on Thursday that a number of people were willing to pay for their own 14-day hotel quarantine to be allowed to escape Melbourne and other parts of Victoria state that began a six-week shutdown Wednesday because of an expanding coronavirus outbreak.

India: RSS members hail C'garh govt's plan to buy cow dung

Raipur, Jul 8 (PTI) Members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have welcomed the Chhattisgarh government's decision to purchase cow dung from cattle rearers, but also demanded procurement of cow urine citing its benefits in farming.

Officer-bearers of 'Gau Gram Swavlamban Abhiyan Chhattisgarh', a drive being run mainly by the RSS workers, on Tuesday met Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and handed over a memorandum while hailing 'Gaudhan Nyay Yojna' to be launched from July 21 for procuring cow dung.

India: Ganguly announces cancellation of Asia Cup in September

New Delhi, Jul 8 (PTI) BCCI president Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday announced cancellation of the Asia Cup T20, which was scheduled to be held in September.

Pakistan had the hosting rights of the six-team continental event but it was expected to be held in the UAE.

"Asia Cup cancel ho chuka hai, jo September me tha (Asia Cup, which was to be held in September, has been cancelled)," Ganguly told 'sports tak' in an instagram live session.

Yemen official: We ask the UAE to take its hands off our oil, gas and ports

08 July 2020; MEMO: Governor of Yemen’s Al Mahwit region, Saleh Sami, called on UAE Crown Prince, Mohammed Bin Zayed, to lift his hands off Yemen’s oil, gas and ports.

On Twitter, Sami wrote: “Oh, [Saudi-led] coalition, we do not want you to arm our army or maintain our security. We only ask [Mohammed] Bin Zayed to take his hands off our ports and stop preventing the export of our gas and oil through them.”
