China-Europe train services on the rise

ZHENGZHOU, April 13 (Xinhua) -- China-Europe trains made 234 trips departing from or arriving in the city of Zhengzhou, capital of Henan Province, during the Jan.-March period, up 95 percent from last year.

The freight carried by the trains totalled 110,300 tonnes, with a value of 763 million U.S. dollars, up 56.6 percent and 12.1 percent, respectively, according to the customs of the city.

Philippine presidential communication staff start to learn Chinese language

China, North Macedonia to cooperate on infrastructure

DUBROVNIK, Croatia, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with North Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on Friday, calling on the two countries to enhance infrastructure cooperation.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the eighth leaders' meeting between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) at the southern Croatian coastal city of Dubrovnik.

Commending the bilateral relations, Li said China and North Macedonia respect and trust each other, and that practical cooperation between the two countries has yielded fruitful achievements.

IMF chief urges governments to avoid wrong trade policies

WASHINGTON, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief on Thursday urged policy makers to "do no harm" and avoid wrong trade policies, as the global economy experiences broad-based slowdown with a prospect of a "precarious" rebound.

"We know that, for many decades, trade integration has helped boost productivity, innovation, growth, employment, and has reduced the cost of living, particularly for the low-income people," IMF managing director Christine Lagarde said in a press conference at the Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank.

China's inflation rebounds in March, easing deflation fears

BEIJING, April 11 (Xinhua) -- With the consumer prices rebounding solidly in March and producer prices notching its first acceleration in nine months, market fear over deflation risks of the Chinese economy has been largely abated.

As there is no worry about high inflation risk, analysts said China's monetary policy will remain unchanged, and there is still much room for the country's central bank to manoeuver its monetary tools.

Chinese B&RI "very important contribution" to global economy: IMF

WASHINGTON, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a "very important contribution" to the global economy, the Director of the Asia and Pacific Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Changyong Rhee said.

The BRI has benefited the world in fostering infrastructure need in the low-income countries and also promoting regional cooperation and connectivity in trade investment, human mobility and finance, Rhee told Xinhua in a recent interview on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank.

SpaceX launches mega rocket, lands all 3 boosters

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — SpaceX launched its second supersized rocket and for the first time landed all three boosters Thursday, a year after sending up a sports car on the initial test flight.

The new and improved Falcon Heavy thundered into the early evening sky with a communication satellite called Arabsat, the rocket’s first paying customer. The Falcon Heavy is the most powerful rocket in use today, with 27 engines firing at liftoff — nine per booster.

U.S. largest security industry trade show opens in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, April 10 (Xinhua) -- The 52nd International Security Conference and Exposition (ISC West), the largest security industry trade show in the United States, was launched in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

The three-day show attracts over 1,000 global exhibitors and brands in the security industry and over 30,000 security professionals.

They are expected to discuss best practices, new technologies, and innovations on security and safety.
