BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — The United States imposed new travel restrictions on citizens of Hungary on Tuesday over concerns that the identities of nearly 1 million foreigners granted Hungarian passports over nine years weren’t sufficiently verified, according to the U.S. Embassy and a government official.

The restrictions apply to the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, which allows passport holders from 40 countries to enter the United States for business or tourism without a visa for up to 90 days.

BUDAPEST, July 22 (Reuters) - Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Saturday renewed an attack on the European Union for conducting what he called an "LGBTQ offensive", saying his nationalist government would protect the country's Christian roots.

In a speech in Romania, Orban - a long-standing critic of Brussels - also said he hoped next year's European parliament elections would strengthen governments within the bloc that reject the "federalism" represented by Germany and France.

BUDAPEST, July 19. /TASS/:  Hungary will not allow the European Union to use funds from the European Peace Fund to finance arms supplies to Ukraine until OTP Bank is removed from Ukraine’s list of "international sponsors of the war," Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said at a press conference in Budapest after a meeting with his Yemeni counterpart.

Answering questions from reporters, he noted that the position of the Hungarian government on this issue has not changed.

BUDAPEST, July 3. /TASS/: The Hungarian government is adamant that Ukraine’s NATO membership cannot be discussed as long as an armed conflict continues in the country, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto said on Monday.

When asked at a joint press conference with his Slovak counterpart Miroslav Wlachovsky if Ukraine could receive a NATO invitation at the alliance’s Vilnius summit on July 11-12, Szijjarto said that "it is out of the question."

China Eastern Airlines commenced a direct flight service between east China’s Ningbo city and Budapest.

BUDAPEST, June 6. /TASS/: The "sanctions hysteria" in the European Union is undermining its competitiveness with respect to the United States, which has felt the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine to a much lesser extent than Europe.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto said this speaking at the international Budapest Peace Forum on Tuesday.

BUDAPEST, June 2. /TASS/: Hungary's policy will be determined on the basis of its geographical position within the triangle of three countries - Russia, Germany and Turkey, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on the radio station Kossuth.

He believes that the attention of Budapest, as the capital of a European country, should be focused on the three centers of political and economic power - Moscow, Berlin and Ankara.

"Russia, Germany, Turkey - our life is within this triangle - and it is in this triangle that the lives of Hungarians must be governed well," Orban said.

BUDAPEST, May 23. /TASS/: Ukraine will not be able to prevail in the conflict with Russia, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Tuesday, noting an unwillingness by NATO to deploy alliance troops to Ukraine and urging that a peaceful settlement be reached as soon as possible.
