21 June 2022; MEMO: The head of Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, yesterday denied recent reports about his country's move to cut relations with Israel.

Al-Burhan told Al-Hurra that Sudan's ties with Israel had never been "severed."

30 April 2022; MEMO: Sudan braces for protests on Saturday to mark the third anniversary of a deadly sit-in dispersal, in which dozens of protesters were killed, Anadolu Agency reports.

More than 60 protesters were killed when security forces violently dispersed a protest camp outside the army headquarters in the capital Khartoum on June 29, 2019. The day coincided with the 29th day of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

Opposition groups, however, say more than 128 people were killed in the dispersal.

26 April 2022; MEMO: After an extended detention, facing corruption charges, prominent Sudanese politician and former Cabinet Minister, Khalid Omer Yousif, was released on bail on Tuesday, a lawyer on his defence team said and Reuters reports.

Yousif and other politicians were arrested in February after a coup by the military leaders, who shared power with the civilian coalition they are part of, following their work on a committee working to dismantle the Omar Al-Bashir regime.

25 April 2022; MEMO: More than 170 civilians were killed in renewed tribal clashes in Sudan's western Darfur province, according to a local aid group on Monday, and Anadolu News Agency reports.

Adam Rigal, a spokesman for the General Coordination for Refugees and Displaced in Darfur, said nine people were killed when the violence first erupted on Friday in West Darfur's Kreinik village amid a shortage of humanitarian aid and medicines.

23 April 2022; MEMO: The Sudanese authorities on Friday released 25 political detainees from a prison in the capital, Khartoum, as part of a measure to create a climate for dialogue between Sudanese parties.

This came according to a statement by Sudanese legal initiative, Emergency Lawyers. The initiative was formed following the exceptional measures taken by army chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on 25 October, most notably the imposition of a state of emergency and the dissolution of the Sovereignty Council and the Council of Ministers.

21 April 2022; MEMO: A video of ousted Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir walking around a hospital ward yesterday sparked a wave of anger on social media, Reuters has reported.

The news agency quoted sources as saying that Al-Bashir was transferred to a hospital from his cell on the grounds of his "severe illness". It also pointed out that some of the social media comments "voiced their support" for the ex-president.

16 April 2022; MEMO: Sudan's military will release political detainees to create a favorable atmosphere for dialogue in the country, according to the army chief, Anadolu Agency reports.

"We have started procedures to release political detainees within two or three days," General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan said in a statement.

He said the move aims to "set the atmosphere for dialogue and to contribute with others to achieve reconciliation."

13 April 2022; MEMO: A court in Sudan yesterday postponed the trial of ousted President Omar Al-Bashir in a case connected to the 1989 military coup that brought him to power.

The trial has been postponed to 19 April.

In May 2019, the Sudanese prosecution opened an investigation into charges against Al-Bashir of undermining the country's constitutional order over the coup.

13 April 2022; MEMO: The UN, African Union (AU) and Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) called on Tuesday for the Sudanese authorities to end the political crisis gripping the country, it has been reported.

According to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, the three asked the Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to adopt measures which will create a suitable atmosphere for a serious dialogue to end the crisis.

07 April 2022; MEMO: The Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors (CCSD) announced today that 78 people were injured during the demonstrations held yesterday in the capital Khartoum and the city of Wad Madani in the state of Al-Jazeera.
