Malaysia Dominates Global Sukuk Markets In 2020, Chalks Up Market Share Of 39.2 Pct

KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia continues to dominate global sukuk markets in 2020 with a market share of 39.2 per cent despite the impact of the pandemic on the global economy and economic sentiment.

RAM Rating Services Bhd (RAM Ratings) revealed that global sukuk issuance rose 16.8 per cent to US$152.6 billion (US$1=RM4.14) last year compared with US$130.6 billion in 2019.

Malaysia Will Start Receiving CanSino COVID-19 Vaccine From This Month

PUTRAJAYA, April 1 (NNN-Bernama) – Malaysia will receive a supply of 3.5 million doses of CanSino COVID-19 vaccine from China in stages, starting this month, said Health Minister Dr Adham Baba.

He said the procurement of the vaccine is being made in two categories, namely finished product of 500,000 doses, and the rest delivery in bulk to be filled and packaged by local company Solutions Biologics Sdn Bhd (SolBio).

Malaysia To Have First 5G Cybersecurity Test Lab By 2023 – CSM

CYBERJAYA, March 30 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia will have its first 5G Cybersecurity Test Lab by 2023, said CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) chief executive officer (CEO) Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab.

The facility, to be located within CSM’s premises in Cyberjaya, will encompass a comprehensive 5G testbed ecosystem incorporating technologies such as 5G radio access network, Edge Network, Core Network, Cloud Application as well as End User devices which are equipped with security test tools.

68 Pct Of Malaysians Want Covid-19 Vaccine Shot

PUTRAJAYA, March 26 (NNN-Bernama) — Sixty eight per cent of Malaysians want to get the COVID-19 vaccine jab based on statistics of the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.

According to Nadma statistics, only 16 per cent of the people in the country are still unsure whether to receive COVID-19 vaccine shots or not, he said.

Malaysia, Singapore Work On Recognising Vaccine Certificates To Facilitate Cross-Border Travel

PUTRAJAYA, March 23 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia and Singapore have reaffirmed their commitment to work together towards recognising each other’s COVID-19 vaccine certificates, with a view towards facilitating cross-border travel in the future.

Malaysian Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and his visiting Singaporean counterpart Dr Vivian Balakrishnan said this in a joint statement Tuesday.

The North Korean flag and embassy signage have been removed from the premise in a Kuala Lumpur suburb. Two buses ferried the diplomats and their families to the airport, where they were seen checking in for a flight to Shanghai.

Malaysia says "deeply regrets" DPRK's decision to sever diplomatic ties

KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia "deeply regrets" the decision of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to sever their diplomatic ties, the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday in a statement.

The ministry said the DPRK's decision was "unfriendly and unconstructive," adding that "Malaysia reserves our every right to respond to the decision of the DPRK in order to protect our sovereignty and to safeguard our national interest."

Malaysian Govt Files Appeal Against Ruling On Use Of Word ‘Allah’

KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 (NNN-Bernama) — The government has filed an appeal against the High Court ruling that Christians nationwide can use the word “Allah” and three other Arabic words in their religious publications for educational purposes.

The other three words are Baitullah, Kaabah and solat.

The notice of appeal was filed at the High Court registrar’s office. Copies of the notice were given to the Court of Appeal registrar and the law firm representing a Sarawak Melanau Christian, Jill Ireland Lawrence Bill.

M’sia Appointed As Member Of UNSC’s Advisory Group

KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia has been appointed as a member of the United Nations Statistical Commission’s (UNSC) advisory group (AG).

The appointment was made at the 52nd UNSC session held virtually from March 1-5, 2021.

In a statement Monday, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM) said Malaysia as one of the AG members will modernise the management and organisation of the national statistical system, thus contributing valuably to the advancement of the global statistical community.
