Malaysia Top Destination For Data Centre Investment In Southeast Asia – Knight Frank

KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia is the most attractive destination for data centre investment among emerging markets in Southeast Asia (SEA), said independent real estate consultancy Knight Frank Malaysia.

The company Wednesday launched its white paper on data centres in Malaysia in partnership with DC Byte, highlighting the country’s attractiveness for data centre investment in Kuala Lumpur and Johor state.

Malaysia Natural Rubber Production Decreased By 7.6 Percent In Feb

KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 12 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Natural rubber production in Malaysia decreased by 7.6 percent to 27,209 tonnes in Feb, as compared to 29,451 tonnes in Jan, 2023, official data showed today.

Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of natural rubber fell 2.7 percent from 27,950 tonnes a year ago, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.

According to the DOSM, total stocks of natural rubber in Feb, declined by 1.5 percent to 191,636 tonnes, as compared to 194,563 tonnes in Jan.

Ringgit Bonds Drew The Largest Monthly Inflow – Malaysian Research Firm

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (NNN-Bernama) — Ringgit bonds drew the largest monthly inflow in over a year following bank failures and aversion to credit risk in the United States and Europe, says a reserach firm based in Malaysia. 

Maybank Investment Bank Group Research (Maybank IB Research) in a note said this was due to the fact that regional local currency debts offered both yields and relative safety.

Malaysia's palm oil stock falls to 1.67 million tons in March

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia, the world's second-largest palm oil producer, saw its palm oil stock plunge 21.08 percent month on month to 1.67 million tons in March, official data showed Monday.

The Malaysian Palm Oil Board said in a statement that the country's crude palm oil production rose 2.77 percent month on month to 1.29 million tons.

Malaysia's palm oil exports also surged 31.76 percent monthly to 1.49 million tons.

Its palm oil imports slumped 24.25 percent month on month to 39,772 tons.

Malaysia says it will protect its rights in South China Sea

KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 (Reuters) - Malaysia said on Saturday it was firmly committed to protecting its sovereign rights and interests in the South China Sea after China expressed concern about Malaysian energy projects in a part of the sea that China also claims.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Tuesday China was worried about activity by the state energy firm Petronas in a part of the South China Sea that Malaysia says is its territory.

Malaysia: Kazakhstan election another step forward in political reforms

KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (NNN-Bernama) — Kazakhstan’s snap Parliamentary election Sunday is set to be another step forward in the ongoing political reforms being carried out by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the vast Central Asian country rocked by unprecedented and rare protests in January last year.

The election is being held following the constitutional reforms in a national referendum in June 2022, receiving more than 77 per cent voters’ support in the country of some 19.3 million people.

Malaysia secures US$5.35 bln potential investments from South Korea

KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia’s International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) has secured potential investments worth RM24 billion (US$5.35 billion) as well as RM4.24 billion (US$945.5 million) of potential exports of products and services through its recent trade and investment mission to South Korea.

The mission, led by MITI Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz from March 14-17, 2023, was part of the ministry’s efforts to attract quality investments and increase local companies participation in higher value global supply chain.

Analysts See Malaysia’s Palm Oil Prices To Remain Supportive In Near Term

KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 13 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Malaysian analysts have foreseen palm oil prices to remain firm in near term, underpinned by festive demand and Indonesia’s export restrictions.

Maybank Investment Bank Research said in a note today that, the Eid al-Fitr Festival demand, coupled with Indonesia’s export restrictions in place till end-Apr, will continue to support crude palm oil (CPO) spot prices at about 4,000 ringgit (891.5 U.S. dollars) per tonne in Mar and Apr.
