New Delhi, Feb 27 (PTI) Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh on Wednesday took a dig at the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his proposed mega-video conference, amid heightened tensions with Pakistan.

New Delhi, Feb 28 (PTI) The Congress on Thursday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has "misplaced priorities" and that he was "desperate only for re-election".

The party's chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, in a tweet, alleged that the prime minister was "hell-bent on creating a video conference record" when the entire country was praying for return of its braveheart pilot.

New Delhi, Feb 27 (PTI) Twenty-one opposition parties Wednesday expressed anguish over what they alleged was "blatant politicisation" of the sacrifices of armed forces and urged the government to take the nation into confidence on all measures to protect India's sovereignty, unity and integrity.

After a meeting in the Parliament Library, the leaders of these parties issued a joint statement, expressing concern over the prevailing security situation in the country.

MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. The Indian Air Force on Wednesday shot down Pakistan’s multi-role F-16 fighter jet, which allegedly intruded India’s airspace, the Firstpost Internet portal reported.

India’s Asian News International (ANI) agency notes that the pilot ejected and opened his parachute. No data on his condition and location has been revealed. The plane reportedly crashed on the Pakistani territory.

According to Pakistan Today, “a woman and her younger brother were killed and two others injured as Indian troops resorted to heavy shelling from across the LoC… Indian shelling began at 6am in the Abbaspur sector of Poonch district and remained “intense and indiscriminate” until 9am… at least three houses have been damaged completely while 43 houses and two educational institutions were damaged partially by Indian shelling.”

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (APP): After opening lower, the Indian stock markets – Sensex and Nifty – extended losses on Tuesday, following violation of Line of Control (LoC) by Indian Air Force (IAF), Business Today of India reported.

According to the report, the Sensex plunged nearly 500 points in opening deals and Nifty slipped below the 10,740 level. Most of the BSE sectoral indices were trading in the red, led by banking, power, PSU, realty and IT stocks.

Srinagar, 27 Feb 2019: Two Kashmiri separatists were killed on Wednesday by Indian security forces in Shopian district of Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian Security forces alleged that they launched a cordon and search operation in Meemendar area of Shopian following information about presence of separatists there, the officials said.

It has been alleged that the search operation turned into a gun fight after separatists opened fire towards the Indian security forces, which retaliated. The two militants were killed in the gunfight.

New Delhi, Feb 27 (PTI) The Supreme Court Wednesday took note of the Centre's submissions that no fresh incident of violence against Kashmiris has been reported since February 22, the day when the apex court had taken cognisance of a PIL on the issue.

The apex court on February 22 directed chief secretaries and DGPs of 11 states to take "prompt" and "necessary" action to prevent incidents of alleged threat, social boycott and violence against Kashmiris following the Pulwama terror attack.

The Congress will take a final call on the matter in a meeting of its Election Committee slated to be held Wednesday, state Congress leaders said.
