Train hits car at crossing in Germany, 3 killed

BERLIN (AP) — A train hit a car at a crossing in northern Germany early Sunday, killing all three people in the car, police said.

Police said that the regional train hit the car at full speed near Neustadt am Ruebenberge, outside the city of Hannover, German news agency dpa reported.

The car’s 22-year-old driver was killed along with two women who were with him in the vehicle, aged 21 and 22. There were 38 passengers and four railway employees on board the train, and one person was slightly injured.

Suspect arrested in German gym attack that left 4 wounded

BERLIN (AP) — A suspect has been arrested over last week’s stabbing attack at a gym in the western German city of Duisburg in which four people were seriously wounded, authorities said Sunday.

Prosecutor Jill Mc Culler said the man, a 26-year-old Syrian citizen, was arrested shortly after midnight, German news agency dpa reported. He was to be brought before a judge on Monday to determine whether he can be kept in custody pending possible charges.

UK: Homeless deaths soar 85% since 2019

Russia records 7,030 daily COVID cases, 34 deaths — crisis center

MOSCOW, April 22. /TASS/: Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 7,030 over the past day to 22,803,875, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Saturday.

A day earlier, 7,116 daily cases were recorded.

As many as 958 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia over the past day, down 13.5% from a day earlier. The number of hospitalized patients increased in 25 regions, while in 46 regions the figure decreased. The situation remained unchanged in 14 regions. A day earlier, 1,108 people were rushed to hospitals.

Zelensky slaps sanctions on Russian parties, Central Election Commission — decree

The sanctions list includes the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), the A Just Russia - Patriots - For Truth party, the New People party, as well as the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC).

Belarusian crews of Iskander-M missile system complete training in Russia

MINSK, April 22. /TASS/: Crews of the Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile (TBM) system of the Belarusian Armed Forces’ missile force have concluded their training in Russia, the Belarusian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday.

"The crews of the Iskander-M operational-tactical ballistic missile system of the Belarusian Armed Forces’ missile troops have completed practical training in the Russian Federation," the statement said. "Today, the Belarusian servicemen landed at the Machulishchy airfield.".
