Palestinian uproar as Israel puts loudspeakers in Al-Aqsa Mosque

12 Sep 2020; MEMO: Israel soldiers installed loudspeakers over the northern and western walls of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday.

The speaker system allows Israeli forces to further disturb and violate Muslim worshippers in the mosque by making announcements and instructions to those in the compound.

Israel set to impose restrictions as virus cases soar

12 Sep 2020; MEMO: With over 4,300 more coronavirus cases reported on Friday, the steady rise in infections in Israel since June shows no signs of abating, Anadolu Agency reports.

According to the Health Ministry, 4,388 new cases over the past 24 hours raised the overall count to 146,542, including 1,077 deaths and 111,539 recoveries.

At least 489 patients are in critical condition, 180 in moderate condition, and 134 are on respirators, the ministry said.

Protests flare in Libya's Benghazi over power cuts, living conditions

12 Sep 2020; MEMO: Scores of people protested in Benghazi on Thursday over power cuts and living conditions, witnesses said, burning tyres and blocking some roads in an unusual public show of dissent in the eastern Libyan city, Reuters reports.

Benghazi is the base of Khalifa Haftar and his Libyan National Army (LNA), which is fighting in a civil war against the internationally recognised Government of National Accord in Tripoli, in the country’s west.

Iran Denies Meddling In U.S. Presidential Campaigns

TEHRAN, Sept 12 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry, on Friday, denied that the Islamic republic is meddling in the U.S. upcoming presidential election.

“The United States is leading active misinformation campaigns against other countries,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, said.

“The U.S. has interfered for decades in the elections of other countries, including Iran,” Khatibzadeh added.

Jordan Says Ending Israeli Occupation, “Key” To Peace In Mideast

AMMAN, Sept 12 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan said, ending the Israeli occupation and resolving Palestinian-Israeli conflict, based on the two-state solution, play the key role in realising peace in the Middle East.

Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, made the remarks after the normalisation of ties between Israel and Bahrain was announced.

Safadi said, what is required to realise peace in the region is ending the Israeli occupation and stopping all Israeli measures that undermine the two-state solution.

Iran says Bahrain normalizing ties with Israel 'shameful'

(Reuters) - Iran said on Saturday that Bahrain’s move to normalize relations with Israel meant it would be complicit in Israeli policies which threatened regional security, Iranian state TV reported.

Bahrain’s agreement, which was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday, was partly forged because of shared wariness of Iran.

Iran’s foreign ministry said that it would hold the governments of Bahrain and its allies responsible for any insecurity caused by Israel in the Gulf region.

U.S. Secretary of State says up to Afghans to determine political system during peace talks

DOHA (Reuters) - United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged warring Afghan sides to seize the opportunity to strike a peace deal at the opening ceremony for long-awaited negotiations in Doha on Saturday.

“The choice of your future political system is, of course, yours to make,” he said, adding that he hoped the solution would protect the rights of all Afghan and protect social progress, including the presence of women in public life.

“I cannot strongly enough urge you, seize this opportunity, he added.

Egyptian, French leaders discuss regional issues

CAIRO, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed on Friday the developments of several regional issues, including the situation in Libya.

During a phone conversation, both presidents exchanged views over a number of issues of common interests, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.
