Israel anti-government campaigners threaten to legally protest police use of water cannons

26 July 2020; MEMO: Israeli protest leaders calling for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s resignation announced their intention to petition the Supreme Court if water cannons are used against protesters, i24 News reported.

Protest movement leader and organiser Gonen Ben Yitzhak slammed the police for using the controversial control method, and said it was “far from harmless”

Lebanon: Israel violated Lebanese air space 29 times in 48 hours

26 July 2020; MEMO: The Lebanese Army said Israel violated Lebanon’s airspace 29 times in the past 48 hours, Alaraby English reported.

The flagrant breaches were monitored by the United Nations’ Lebanon Peacekeeping Mission.

An army spokesperson said: “On Friday, Israeli planes violated Lebanese air space 20 times, and on Saturday 9 times.”

Israel has yet to respond to the accusation.

Israelis Continue Protests Against Netanyahu’s Handling Of Pandemic

JERUSALEM, July 26 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Thousands of Israelis held several demonstrations across the country, against their prime minister yesterday, with the main protest taking place in Jerusalem, outside the official residence of Benjamin Netanyahu.

The protests have been going on for the past few weeks, sparked by what critics see as a government’s failure to handle the COVID-19 crisis, after initially keeping the threat of the virus at bay. Corruption charges against Netanyahu have further fuelled the demonstrations.

Israel's Netanyahu instructed to appear in court to answer corruption charges

JERUSALEM, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Jerusalem District Court on Sunday instructed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to appear in court on December 6 to answer corruption charges.

The court said Netanyahu's presence is required in the session in order to answer to the charges against him, which include bribery, fraud and breach of trust in three separate cases.

Three other defendants in the same cases were also instructed to appear in the session.

Syrian ambassador says U.S. "harassment" against Iranian passenger plane "terrorist act"

TEHRAN, July 25 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian ambassador to Tehran said Saturday that the "harassment" against the Iranian passenger plane in the Syrian sky by the United States was a "terrorist act," Tehran Times daily reported.

"Harassment against the Iranian passenger plane of Mahan airline by the U.S. fighter jets in Syria's sky is a symbol of the U.S. terrorist actions against civilians," Adnan Hassan Mahmoud said in a statement on Saturday.

Mahmoud said that "it is a violation of law and international agreements on non-military flights."

Sarraj discusses lifting Libya oil fields blockade with US ambassador in Ankara

25 July 2020; MEMO: Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Al-Sarraj discussed with US Ambassador to Turkey David Satterfield on Friday the lifting of the blockade on Libya’s oil fields.

This came during a meeting held by the two sides, according to a statement issued by the media office of the Libyan government.

Turkey forges military pact with Niger, Libya’s neighbour

25 July 2020; MEMO: The signing of a military agreement with Niger, a neighbouring country of Libya, reflects Turkey’s interest to have a foothold in a country adjacent to Libya, The New Khalij reported on Friday.

The agreement was reached during last week’s tour by the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu of Africa, as Niger was among the African countries he visited.

Kuwait: Adulterated wine kills 4 men, causes fifth to lose sight

25 July 2020; MEMO: Four young men have died and others are in critical conditions in Kuwait, after being poisoned by locally manufactured adulterated wines.

According to local media, the victims arrived at Jahra Hospital in critical conditions, and four of them have died in the past few days. Six others are still in intensive care and one has lost his sight, reported Al-Anba newspaper.

Israel police arrest 55 anti-Netanyahu protesters

25 July 2020; MEMO: Israeli occupation police arrested on Friday at dawn 55 Israelis who took part in demonstrations against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, news agencies reported.

According to Israel Radio, thousands of angry Israelis took part in demonstrations staged near Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem, and many clashes erupted between them and police.
