RIYADH/CAIRO (Reuters) - Arab powers appear to be prioritizing close ties with the United States that are vital to countering Iran over traditional unswerving support for the Palestinians in their reaction to President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan.

Kushner says he hopes Israel waits on sovereignty steps in West Bank

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - White House senior adviser Jared Kushner said Washington wants Israel to wait until after its March 2 election before making any moves towards settlement annexation in the West Bank following the announcement of a U.S. peace plan.

Kushner, an architect of the peace proposal hailed by Israel and rejected by the Palestinians, raised the stop sign in a video interview, posted on the Internet on Thursday, with GZERO Media, a subsidiary of political risk analysis firm Eurasia Group.

Iraq Confirms Solidarity With Palestinians Over Trump’s Mideast 'Peace' Plan

BAGHDAD, Jan 30 (NNN-NINA) – Iraq confirmed its solidarity with the Palestinians, in achieving their legitimate rights, a day after the announcement of the U.S. peace plan, or Deal of the Century.

“Iraq stands with its Palestinian brothers, in their legitimate rights, guaranteed by international legitimacy, the UN Security Council resolutions, and their right to return to their homes and lands,” the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said, in a statement.

Suspension of Libyan oil exports costs 500 mln USD

TRIPOLI, Jan 30 (NNN-Xinhua) — The suspension of oil exports due to the closure of oil fields and ports has cost more than 500 million U.S. dollars so far, Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said.

“On 28 January 2020, oil production reached 288,181 barrels per day. Total value of losses since the beginning of blockades has reached 562,323,991 U.S. Dollars as of Tuesday 28 January 2020,” the country’s state oil company said.

Palestinians Join Mass Protests In West Bank, Gaza Against Trump’s 'Deal of the Century'

RAMALLAH/GAZA, Jan 30 (NNN-WAFA) – For the second day in a row, Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, joined mass protests against the U.S. Middle East peace plan, also known as the Deal of the Century.

Officials and eyewitnesses said, clashes broke out between hundreds of Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers, in several West Bank towns, mainly in the areas of the Jordan Valley.

Israel postpones move to annex large parts of West Bank

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel has postponed a move to annex large parts of the West Bank, a government minister said Wednesday, a day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to quickly act on the Trump administration’s Mideast plan despite fierce Palestinian opposition.

Netanyahu had said the Cabinet would vote Sunday on extending Israeli sovereignty to dozens of Jewish settlements as well as the Jordan Valley, a move that risks provoking a harsh backlash from the Palestinians and the international community.

Defense minister pushes to extend Israeli sovereignty to West Bank settlements

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli Defence Minister Naftali Bennett said on Wednesday that Israel should move to establish sovereignty over nearly a third of the occupied West Bank following the announcement of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan.

The remarks by the hawkish Bennett, a partner in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing governing coalition, fueled accusations by Palestinians that Trump’s plan paves the way for Israel to formally annex large areas of the West Bank that it has occupied since the 1967 Six-Day War.

Iran rejects U.S. Mideast peace plan as "disgraceful"

TEHRAN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday strongly rejected the U.S. Middle East peace plan as "disgraceful."

In a statement released hours after U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of the so-called Deal of the Century, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said it is the "betrayal of the century" and is "doomed to failure."

"Palestine belongs to the Palestinians," he said.
