Iraq’s Kurdistan denies presence of Israel military base on its soil

Speaking to right-wing news outlet Arutz Sheva, Edelstein – a member of Netanyahu’s Likud party – claimed that the movement to annex West Bank territory has made significant gains in recent years.

Iran says it closes gaps with France in talks on nuclear deal

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran and France’s views have become closer over Tehran’s nuclear deal, mainly after phone calls between President Hassan Rouhani and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, Iran’s government spokesman said on Monday.

“Fortunately the points of views have become closer on many issues and now technical discussions are being held on ways to carry out the Europeans’ commitments (in the nuclear deal),” the spokesman, Ali Rabiei, said in remarks carried by state television, without giving details.

Netanyahu Says Israel Might Launch Another Strike At Lebanon

JERUSALEM, Sept 2 (NNN-MA’AN) – Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said that, his country is ready to launch another attack at Hezbollah in Lebanon, after fire exchanges broke out along the Lebanese border.

Netanyahu said, he held consultation with the army’s command, following an anti-tank missile attack launched by Hezbollah earlier.

“We are prepared for any scenario and will decide how to continue, based on further events,” he said, warning Hezbollah not to fire more missiles.

Iran Condemns Deadly Airstrikes On Yemen Prison By Saudi-Led Coalition

TEHRAN, Iran, Sept 2 (NNN-IRNA) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry, on Sunday, strongly condemned the deadly airstrikes on a Yemen prison by the Saudi-led coalition.

In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, said that, “the bombardment of the detention centre was the latest war crime, committed by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.”

The Saudi-led coalition commits these “crimes” by using U.S. and other western countries’ weapons, Mousavi said, adding that, the Yemeni people hold the U.S. and some western countries “responsible for these crimes.”

Jordan, Sweden stress need for continued support to UN relief agency

AMMAN, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and his Swedish counterpart Margot Wallstrom on Sunday underlined the need for ensuring that the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) can continue to provide services to Palestinian refugees.

In a press statement released in Amman, the ministers agreed to go ahead with efforts to mobilize support for the UN agency.

Iran warns of ‘strong step’ from atomic deal if no new terms

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran will “take a strong step” away from its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers if Europe cannot offer the country new terms by a deadline at the end of this week, a government spokesman said Monday as top Iranian diplomats traveled to France and Russia for last-minute talks.

The comments from Ali Rabiei reinforced the deadline Iran had set for Friday for Europe to offer it a way to sell its crude oil on the global market. Crushing U.S. sanctions imposed after President Donald Trump withdrew America from the deal over a year ago have halted those sales.

Israel, Hezbollah engage in brief, intense fighting

JERUSALEM (AP) — Hezbollah militants on Sunday fired a barrage of anti-tank missiles into Israel, prompting a reprisal of heavy Israeli artillery fire in a rare burst of fighting between the bitter enemies.

Although the shooting quickly subsided without casualties on either side, the situation remained volatile. The bitter enemies, which fought a monthlong war in 2006, have indicated they do not want to go to war but appeared on a collision course in recent days after a pair of Israeli strikes against Hezbollah. The militant group vowed it would retaliate.
