Israeli-linked ship attacked last week in Arabian Sea

19 Feb 2023; MEMO: An Israeli-linked tanker was lightly damaged in an attack last week by an airborne object while sailing through the Arabian Sea, the ship's manager confirmed on Saturday, Reuters reports.

Regional defence and security sources suspect the assault was carried out by Iran, which did not comment on the incident. Tehran has rejected accusations it was behind similar attacks in the past few years.

Israel settlers attack mosque in occupied city of Hebron

20 Feb 2023; MEMO: A group of Israeli settlers yesterday threw stones at a mosque in the Old City of Hebron, smashing its windows and damaging its yard, local sources said.

Sunia Mosque, located in the Al-Sahla area close to the vegetable market, was targeted as part of settler "attempt to intimidate the worshippers and spread an atmosphere of fear and terror among them," Director General of the Hebron Endowment, Nidal Al-Jabari, said.

Ethiopia: Kenya becomes first African State to sign AACC Statute

ADDIS ABABA, Feb 19 (NNN-KBC) — Kenya has become the first African State to sign the African Audiovisual and Cinema Commission (AACC) statute.

The signing ceremony which took place on the margins of the 36th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, comes hot on the heels of Kenya signing a host country agreement between Kenya and African Union (AU).

The agreement paves the way for the operationalization of a temporary secretariat of the African Audiovisual and Cinema Commission (AACC) to be based in Nairobi.

Palestinian President Called On Blinken To Urge Israel To Stop Unilateral Measures In West Bank

RAMALLAH, Feb 19 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, yesterrday called on U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to pressure the Israeli government to stop its unilateral measures in the Palestinian territories.

An official statement sent to reporters said that, Abbas received a phone call from Blinken, during which they discussed the latest developments “in the wake of the recent Israeli decisions that violate the signed agreements and international resolutions.”

Israel blames Iran for attack on oil tanker

JERUSALEM, Feb 19 (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said that Iran was responsible for a reported attack on an oil tanker last week.

An attack on the Liberian-flagged Campo Square was confirmed on Saturday by the ship's captain, who said it was lightly damaged by an airborne object on Feb. 10 while sailing through the Arabian Sea.

Shipping databases linked the tanker to Zodiac Maritime, which is controlled by Israeli shipping magnate Eyal Ofer.

Jordan: Israeli missile strikes building in central Damascus, five dead

AMMAN, Feb 19 (Reuters) - An Israeli rocket strike early on Sunday hit a building in central Damascus, killing five people and damaging several buildings in the densely populated district, witnesses and officials said.

The strike hit near a security complex around which Syria's ally Iran has installed bases, two intelligence sources said.

An Israeli military spokesperson declined to comment.
