Palestine requests Arab League emergency meeting over Israeli attacks on Gaza: source

CAIRO, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Palestine requested an Arab League (AL) emergency meeting at the level of foreign ministers to discuss the Israeli "aggression" on the Gaza Strip.

Mohannad Aklouk, Palestine's permanent representative at the AL submitted the official request after coordination with Saudi Arabia, a source in the office of the Palestinian representative to the AL told Xinhua on Monday.

Death toll of Palestinians from Israeli attacks on Gaza exceeds 8,300: ministry

GAZA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The death toll of Palestinians from Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 8,306, the Hamas-run Health Ministry said on Monday.

Among the victims, 3,457 were children and 2,136 were women, ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qedra said in a press statement.

Meanwhile, 21,048 Palestinians were wounded by the ongoing Israeli airstrikes, it added.

It stated that 25 hospitals have been forced to suspend service due to Israel's bombardment on the Gaza Strip, and 25 ambulances have been targeted.

U.S. strikes trucks on Syrian-Iraqi border

DAMASCUS, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S. airstrikes hit truckloads of construction materials on the Syrian-Iraqi border early Monday, followed by retaliatory shelling on a U.S. military base in Syria's eastern province of Deir al-Zour, media reports said.

According to the Lebanese al-Mayadeen TV, seven trucks transporting construction materials were targeted by U.S. bombings in eastern Syria, near the border with Iraq.
