Activists at Venezuelan embassy in US ignore warning

WASHINGTON (AP) — Several activists ignored a trespassing warning and remained holed up in Venezuela’s embassy in the United States on Tuesday, highlighting a dispute over who is the legitimate leader of the South American nation.

The activists, who consider socialist Nicolás Maduro to be the legitimate president, have protested inside the embassy in Washington for more than a month, sometimes chanting slogans from the windows of the red-brick building as opposition supporters heckle them from the street.

India: Stray cattle impounding drive begins in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, May 14 (PTI) The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has begun a drive to impound stray cattle after two people were killed by the bovines in the past few days.

The drive, which started on Monday, saw a clash between civic officials and cattle owners in the city's Odhav area, officials said.

"The AMC has launched a stray cattle impounding drive as they cause traffic problems and there have been incidents of people being gored to death," said AMC Commissioner Vijay Nehra Tuesday.

Over 160 kg of heroin seized in eastern Turkey

VAN; 15 May 2019; AA: Turkish police have seized more than 163 kilograms (around 360 pounds) of heroin in the eastern Van province, local police announced on Wednesday.

The heroin was discovered in mineral oil cans by anti-narcotic police teams in a search of a cargo warehouse in the Tusba district, said a police statement.

The heroin was found packed in 602 containers pending transfer to the country's western provinces, it added.
